Exhaust question

I love the sound of my exhaust don't get me wrong but if the windows are up I can't hear it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make it a little bit louder. I don't want it so loud that I can't hear anything else, but loud enough to hear it. Sort of an odd question

I'll say it again, delete the resonator. Sounds like it should have come

from the factory. A quick car should sound quick, not like a Prius. And

so there's no confusion I'm 66 years old!

+1 remove the resonator. Unlike some, I replaced it with stainless and not galvanized to keep the integrity of the JCW exhaust system.

I hate drone. I worry that if the resonator is removed that the car will drone on the highway. Has anyone tried keeping the resonator and used a high flow cat (or catless), to see if it is a viable option.

Have fun,
Mike

Since this post is now in two threads, I'll pop over here too!
I not sure that the question is about modding.
I believe that there MAY be something out if spec or missing.
While driving with our club last month, the S models and two JCW's all popped and gergled.
Mine only droned on and on?!?!?!
Every time they let off to make a turn they popped.
Can the ECU need to be re-flashed?
Could the exhaust maybe have come lose under the car?
Being new '14 JCW Clubman, it should not be a concern right?

I have removed the resonator and 2nd cat that is on the MCS (I don't believe that there is a 2nd cat on the JCW from the factory) with a straight piece of stainless 304. I don't experience any drone on the highway - zero drone. Sometimes while driving around town I will get some kind of weird resonance going but it is not consistent at a specific RPM/Gear/speed or what have you and it only happens occasionally and goes away as quick as it came on.

The gurgles are much better and the pops are REALLY loud sometimes - like gun fire! Especially when driving between tall buildings. People run for cover, lol. If I could get rid of the pops and keep the gurgles it would be awesome.

Next up is a catless DP. I've read that gets pretty loud.

Note, I do have different muffler than the JCW. Might change it to the fJCW version.

To my dismay, I can confirm that the N18 JCW exhaust has a 2nd cat then resonator just like the N18 MCS. I think the only difference between them is the muffler and tips.

I agree. I actually deleted the resonator first ($75 - on the expensive side - priced included a cheap piece of aluminize pipe which was subsequently removed and replaced with stainless 304 in the cat removal) and then a few weeks later I deleted the 2nd cat ($40, and I supplied the stainless pipe). The first muffler shop would not cut out the cat, so I went to a different place and they did it at a much lower price.

By doing it in steps I could see the difference from each mod.

I was actually about to purchase either the Arka or iPE full system but at $2000 I figured why not play around first, I have a whopping $115 invested. Also doing it this way it gives me the pleasure of potential further mods. I mean I could easily do all the mods at one time but where's the fun in that. Half the fun is tearing into the car and performing the mods. Also I love coming home to see that UPS has left a package for me.

Question, how do you like the JCW exhaust manifold, I'm debating if I should replace that before or after I do the downpipe.
