Easily scratched pastic

Has anyone had problems with the plastic in between the windshield and the hood? On my 2015 JCW it is discolored and seems dried out. It scratches very easily. I've put various plastic protectants on it like armor all but it doesn't help. I'm concerned that it's going to descentigrate. The dealer says it's not defective. Just looking for other people experience to see if I should push the dealer to do something. Thanks

Armor All just dries out components. I'd avoid using it if you can. I use Adam's VRT to protect plastic components on the exterior of my car. It also provides UV protection and is water repellent. I have no complaints about the product.

After neglecting my car for far too long, I washed, clay-barred, and then top coated it this last weekend. Mother's Back to Black did a great job on all the black around the wheel wells and along the bottom sides and back lower areas.

However, I was shocked at how weather worn the plastic was between the windshield and hood. Back to Black helped, but it still looks weather faded.

While I was at MOTD I had the opportunity to try a product. He did all my plastic and tires and it is supposed to last a year. While I was at the booth I talked to several people who were repeat customers and the consensus was that the company had some very good products. Anyway, I asked if it would help my cowl plastic and he assured me it would. I'm a believer! I don't have a good "before" picture, but I'll take one now and hopefully it'll show the improvement. The plastic was almost white before he treated it.
Needless to say, as soon as I returned home I ordered a "Home" kit and the Dash treatment. It came with a half dozen applicators.

That plastic area on my 2015 F56 is also terribly faded, a near light grey. I've tried many products on it but nothing restores it or lasts. I've honestly just let it go now as being hopeless.

All the plastic trim and stuff elsewhere on my car is fine and looks new after a year still, except for that one area. Maybe it's possible to have it fully replaced.

Mine came that way from the dealer. I also have an area on the trim around the roof that looks to be cracking. I wonder if the dealer will replace it under warranty?

I have never seen the material used by Mini between the windshield and hood used on any other vehicle. It looks like it will require extra maintenance to keep it up. I put a coating of 303 protectant and Mother's Back to Black on it and it has stayed looking good. 303 is good for UV protection and Mother's Back to Black is the best product that I have found that does not completely wash away the first time it rains.

This stuff looks pretty good, I might just have to give it a try.
