Low Mileage cars imported from Germany

I'm looking for a newer model used Cooper S (hardback 2dr but not really applicable to this question).

We have come across several cars from the dealer where the car fax says for the first entry
Vehicle exported from Long Beach, CA and imported to Germany
Followed by a more recent
Auto Auction Eastern Region
Vehicle sold at auction
Listed as a manufacturer vehicle
What does this mean? They have pretty low mileage for something 1-2 years old (less than 1000 miles)

Confused why they originally went to Germany via Long beach and not straight from Oxford

They may have been used as photo\press cars originally, possibly even for emissions testing in California. Just a guess

They could have been "executive" vehicles. These would be cars that the MINI executives drive for a year (as part of a fleet). I just purchased a 2015 BMW Z4 that went in service in Oct 2014, but only had 2024 miles when I bought it last week.

Thanks, though I'm confused why they would not just sell them in CA afterwards (or even in the USA)

OK, I think that is the more likely scenario. Though I'm still confused why they would ship the cars via the USA to Germany and then back again when they are done? Maybe there is some financial benefit or credit ??

Could be cars that had issues and needed major component swap, engine perhaps? Ask before purchasing.

Boats float both ways. No sense sending an empty ship back across the ocean. Probably doesn't really cost all that much for them.

Answer was that it was a BMW/Mini executive car. In the pool for them to pull out when they want.

It was actually in NJ all the time, sounds like the carfax was a little confused.

I bet it is a weird build. Often time the pre-pro/ exec cars are built without the ordering guide and can be configured weird!

I almost bought a 2007 GL450 executive vehicle that had the same info on the CarFax. It had options that were not even available in the US for 07 like ventilated seats!! I heard the cars are often abused/ have quality issues since they are such early builds. But that is almost worth it to have a completely unique car!!

I know there are some pre-pro 2014 models that are out there with weird builds.

Hate to grave-dig but hard to find a relevant thread. If anyone's still around to help, I'm browsing overseas for an import and considering Germany. Has anyone got any companies to recommend? So far I've looked at what I could find, based on public reviews, rating, typical quotes and prices, and came up with https://www.wcshipping.com/germany as what I consider to be a frontrunner. Wanted to know opinions and if there's any other recommendations I can get. Thanks.
