VIP Custom Parts

Hi everyone,

After years of wanting a Cooper and months of reading threads on this great forum, I'm happy to say that I will be a Mini owner in a few more weeks when my 2016 arrives!
I have some mods lined up and first on the list are driving lights. I've been searching and it seems like VIP Custom parts is the only one out there currently that has a Quad light driving kit?
Does anyone have any opinion on these? Is the installation complicated for someone that has intermediate electrical knowledge? I've checked threads about wiring to High beam or fog lights, I ordered a base Cooper, no fog lights, but my intension was to have them wired to go on with high beams anyway.

Any thoughts would be great!

Congrats on the new Cooper! I had the dual driving lights on my countryman and the install was good. I have a little experience with wiring stuff and their instructions and phone support is very good if you need help. They make good quality kits.

Thanks for the reply! Could you tell me with this kit if tapping into the high beams would avoid the need to run a switch into the interior?

I'd be surprised if the light controller in your car will tolerate the additional load of extra lights, you'd likely get away with adding the coil of a relay to your high beam circuit and using the relay to power the new lights. Perhaps that is what you were intending.

not really sure...The crew at VIP said that the High Beam light would be the easiest setup. Since I won't have fog lights, I don't really have another option other than running them as stand alone which I don't know if it's possible?

Also, since I'm in Canada, to tap them onto the High Beams I was told that I would have to deactivate DRL's using the settings menu on my car? Can that be done even on the base Cooper (with regular radio)?

If you live where it snows and they use salt on the road, coat your light bar and brackets in something. My bar turned into a rusted mess after 3 winters of use. Other than that issue their gear and upgrades are spot on and very well done, will buy from them again.

They were painted black with some sort of coating. Completely flaked off after 3 years. I can grind it down and powder coat or put some other coating on there and I should be good.
