Only cars with paddle shifters have launch control.

I didn't know you could get it without modes. That would be so much better.

@hammerhands I believe the American ones are the only ones that come with the modes as standard, I know European ones don't for sure, because I saw a bunch in Europe without the modes switch.

You need to have the sport automatic transmission for launch control. Easy way to tell if you do or not is to see if you have paddle shifters. If you do, you have the sport auto and launch control

I have the paddle shifters. Elaborate on launch control.... actually wait i found a YouTube video wow I didn't know I had this!! I'm going to test this out this weekend for sure.

Turn off Traction Control, Put car in Sport Mode, then move shifter to left to manual shift, slam foot on brake, then slam on gas and wait for a checkered flag on your tach let go of brake and your off!

Bear in mind that you should only use it a few times in the car's lifetime.

I wonder if the 0-60 in 6 seconds (plus change) that the cooper S is supposed to be able to do includes launch control or not...
I've yet to try it out anyway. Not many places where I live that's feasible to do it.

Launch control

This is limited to 100 times in the car's lifetime

Traction control needs to be ON. Turn off DSC. Important difference! A quick toggle of the DSC switch will turn DSC off and turn DTC on. Holding the switch will turn both DSC and DTC off. If you attempt launch control with both of these off, your wheels will try and go while your brakes are holding them in place and you can cause damage to your car.

Also, no need to slam your foot on the brake or gas, but make sure when you're pressing the gas down that you push it down far enough to hit the kickdown switch. Basically, just floor it. Make sure you release the brake within 3 seconds of the flag coming up too!
