I had an extended warranty on my 06 R50 and the Mini dealership used the hell out of that warranty. It was with a 3rd party but I really got my moneys worth.

Maybe the stuff I needed fixed on the Jeep wasn't included in mine. I think they differ a lot. A Mazda dealer tried to sell me one and had it down to half price before I walked out. It's like buying a Velvet Elvis painting in Tijuana lol!

Haha! Yeah I don't remember the details of the contract but I think all of the strut mounts were replaced in the warranty among other things. At one point I remember the service manager telling me he was amazed at all the things he got that warranty company to cover for me. I guess milage may vary with warranties.

I would still walk. In fact I'm amazed that you stayed the course! The disrespectful way they treated you is beyond money.
Just remember, if there is a piece of dust on the car you don't like the look of you can ask for your deposit back.
If you do (and I'm sure you will) go ahead - congratulations! ...you have many years of worry free motoring ahead of you.

The last few e-mails that closed the deal were as follows:

ME,

I want this to be a good experience for everyone. I am going to give you a 6 yrs 100000 mile warranty the shade and floor mats. Putting $9000 down plus $2500 for your trade at 60 months your payment will be $xxx a month. MOTORING ADVISOR is on vacation this week so I will have another sales person help you out. Is Saturday morning good for you? We get very busy in the afternoon and I don't want you to have a long wait time. You will need to bring in the title to your trade, current tag registration(if you want them transferred), drivers license and current insurance card.

Thanks,
SALES MANAGER

And finally:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

ME,

I am going to take another $100 off the price. There are no rear sun shades available.
Thanks
SALES MANAGER
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am looking forward to 9:15 am and getting Nigel after 3 long months... then a 2 hour drive north to my hometown for a family reunion where people are already calling dibs on who gets first rides in my new MINI tomorrow afternoon...

Awesome! I love the red interior (didn't work on my blue car though).

Mine will have the HUD too. Do you like it?

I'm scheduled to pick it up Monday at 5 pm!!

Just one more day of waiting for you! I love the HUD, it is a great convenience, definitely worth the investment. Did some more driving last night and the HUD works great at night also, all of the HUD and central information screen text change colors from white to amber at night automatically, nice detail.

Does it have a backlight?

No, but once night light levels are detected the car changes all of the bright white text on the HUD and on the information display in the speedometer to a darker amber/orange text that is less straining on the eyes in nighttime conditions... The ambient lighting is pretty cool at night also.. I have mine set to red, but if you change driving modes the led ring around the central cluster as well as the overhead ambient lighting, the footwell lights, and the door handle lights will change to green, yellow, or red for a few seconds before reverting back to the preset ambient light color... pretty clever and cool stuff.

Im still getting used to the control interface for the central display, but after a few hours of playing with it is getting easier to use without looking down and the voice commands feature is really good, but i need to memorize all of the possible voice command options.

It's interesting because people either seem to think the HUD is the greatest feature ever, or they don't use it.

At the very least I feel like it would be useful with turn by turn directions.

I guess I would fall into the 'love it' category... It displays a lot of useful information at eye level, speed, cruise control, navigation, radio stations when I'm browsing stations with the wheel audio controls, even incoming phone calls... just a really good way to keep the eyes on the road.

It also just looks really neat. I'd put myself in the love it category after one quick drive with it.

Anyone know if the HUD has always displayed in color? I don't use mine much and mainly for directions at night when I do but thinking that it is orange only? Have to go for a dive now!

Nope, Orange/amber in night mode but white text with full color for navigation and various colors for phone, radio, iPod, cruise control, etc... I posted a few good pics a bit up the page to try to show the range of display options for the HUD.
