MINI Connected

Does anyone utilize MINI Connected or JourneyMate? I can't seem to find the purpose or the difference between the two?

MINI Connected will let you control some 3rd party apps (Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music, etc.) from the screen, which is nice, as well as some gimmicky features.

I've never used JourneyMate though, sorry.

Okay. So it's not as fancy as the apps for BMW?

I always assumed MINI Connected was more or less a direct, more playful looking version of BMW's iDrive.

As for what apps are MINI or BMW specific...I don't know, have not looked into it much.

Have never used JourneyMate though.

I've downloaded journeymate but there is no support for it in Canada along with no traffic info for the nav. Cheap and cheerful up here.

i recently installed Journeymate. The icon appeared on my miniconnected app. I dragged it to the "apps in vehicle" section of the app. When i connect via usb, my apps load, but not the Journeymate. Do I understand you correctly, that it is one or the other? not both? I thought since it appeared in Miniconnected, it was meant to be there. I do not have Nav, do I need it?

Yea, it requires navigation. But I am not sure whether it replaces the old MINI Connected app or not.

It doesn't replace it, but supplements it. The MINI Connected app is required to sync the phone to your car and it has it's own "apps" built in like Mission Control or Dynamic Music (which is fun to play with at least once), but it enables support for all the other 3rd party apps AND Journeymate XL.

As far as I can tell, Journeymate is some kind of road trip app that helps with routing a drive and displays weather info, traffic info, and helps manage stops along the way.

MINI Connected and BMW Connected are the same thing - they enable extended functionality using your iPhone. They both support the same 3rd party apps like Pandora, Aupeo, iHeartRadio, etc.

I think the confusing thing is that MINI calls the Visual Boost radio "MINI Connected" or "Connected XL" and is referring to the hardware itself, when MINI Connected is also the name of the app you download.

I've used it a couple of times..pretty cool it shows traffic and weather for your destination and it will also alert you of a nearby gas station if your car doesn't have enough fuel to reach the destination during your trip.
