Wheel Wizard Needed *****

Min Guru needed:
I have my 2015 (Non S) Hardtop coming in next week::
I am considering Enkei PF01 17x8
The Inset options are 35 and 50
I am hoping to run 225/45/17 on stock suspension
Should this work? If so, which Inset?
I have heard that 8" wheel will work and also that they will not.
Can someone that knows help a brother out?
Thanks ><>

Why do you want to run such a wide tire?

225/45-17 are 25" in diameter ... taller tires will mean slower acceleration.

Actually, 45's are the stock height for a 17" wheel.
And the width is just a preference. I like the wide look.
Just wondering if theyll fit :-)

45 is just the ratio of how tall the sidewall is in comparison to the width. I'm pretty sure MINI uses 195 series tires on the stock 17 inch wheels which means the 225's you're looking to mount will be .5" bigger on each side of the wheel than stock. There's a wheel fitment thread around here somewhere but what you're looking at is likely getting very close to the biggest thing you can fit in the wheel wells before rubbing on the suspension since they'll be an inch wider(maybe less depending on how much the offset changes) and a half in taller.

Edit: found the thread. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...nt-thread.html

They use a 205/45/ on the 17" stock wheel now.
Just interested in knowing if the wheels I am considering will fit and what Inset is best.
Thanks for the link

225/45 will run larger than the stock 205/45. Its not just a case of the tyre being wider.

The proposed tyre set up will be 18mm larger in diameter, which is a -2.84% speedo error.

So at an indicated 30mph on your speedo, your new set up will infact be running 29.15mph. At an indicated 60 on your speedo it would be running at 58.3mph.

In terms of the wheels…..

17x8 ET35 set up will poke 31.7mm more than stock (which will look horrific with no lowering, trust me)

17x8 ET50 with your proposed tyre size will most likely foul the suspension struts, see my pics in the fitment thread for an idea of what 18x8 ET45 looks like in terms of clearance. I am also using a 205/40 tyre (OEM size) instead of going up to a 225.

This diagram shows 17x8 ET35 vs the OEM set up of 17x7 ET54

Check this link: http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php...et2=35#content

I am running 18x8 ET45 Speedline Marmora wheels with 205/40 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres and currently I am desperately awaiting coilovers to fix the 4x4 ride height. It looks a little goofy with the wider wheels and lower offset at the moment!

Increasing the width means having to reduce the aspect ratio to keep the overall tire diameter close to stock.
