Comfort Access System

I know that there are upgrades that you can add later and those that you cannot. Would the comfort access fall into the can or cannot add after the car is built option?

I'm not sure but when I spec'd my 135i back in the day I didn't check that block and I regretted it. For $250 I'm checking that block this time!

It's not that it was forgotten, we bought the launch event mini from our dealer and it has everything that the old R56 had,,,,,except the comfort access system. I think this should just be a standard feature considering you don't need to take the key out to start the car anymore. No big deal, just a nuisance waiting for my wife to fumble around in her purse for the key.

I would imagine this falls into the cannot add category. If it is something that can be added I would bet it will cost way more than $250 to retrofit. I have it in mine and must admit I don't think I could ever have a car without this feature again. Have been spoiled by it ever since my R56.

250.00 to enable something that Mini has already supplied the hardware for... It's like auto up/down windows, somehow letting us flick the button once rather than hold it as it travels up or down is considered a premium feature. I love cars where they give it to the driver but no one else. How could it cost any more to enable it for every window???

I've thought about this too. I didn't get it and regret it. Like someone else posted. I don't need the key so now I just fumble around to unlock the door.

I had it on my order, but the dealer forgot to add it and it wasn't caught until the car already went to production. They said that there is no way to add it. I am sad and a bit pissed.

I have it now and love it but mainly because I don't have to put the fob in the slot, not the door opening part. I was thinking about NOT adding it this time. No way you can add it later.

Check out the "F56 picture thread" - I posted about 6 different pics there on separate posts. I think you will love the color.

I can't find this answer even on the YouTube video on the Comfort Access...

If you have the key with you, and you exist the car, but DON'T push the button, does the Mini lock after a certain amount of time? Or distance? Or does it stay unlocked until you either hit the button or the key fob button? In other words, does it auto-lock on exit?

Thanks

I agree. My old '11 Buick LaCrosse had the same feature and I was sold on it. My wife's '12 Hyundai Azera has it, too. Well worth the $250. IMO. I almost didn't order it, thinking that the it came standard with the toggle start. My MA was right on the ball here and pointed out how the Comfort Access feature differed, and he highly recommended that I get it. I, of course, listened to his good advice.

You'll definitely regret not getting it on a F56. I didn't think it would annoy me, but it only took about 3 times unlocking the car before I wish I'd gotten it. I don't know why, but it really annoys me to have to fish the key out of my pocket, just to unlock the car before putting it right back in my pocket, lol.

Yep, as others have stated, it is a worthy option. I am tyring to learn to lay the key fob somewhere in the car where I can easily see it and get to it. I have been unlocking the car then putting the fob in my pocket. The F56 fob is a large round walnut sized key fob (alot larger than the prior fob) and it is actually harder to dig out of your jeans pocket than you think after you get out of the car. In fact, its a huge lump in your pocket. I wonder if BMW felt that the key fob should be significantly larger and less ergonomic to convey the gloriousness of the new F56?? Why did BMW make it so huge?? Someone, please invent something creative to securely hold our golf ball sized key fobs in the car while we're driving!!

in other words, if you're ordering a car, get comfort access.
