April 15th Is a Tuesday

You would think the official release date would be on the weekend, but people are being told 4/15 is THE DATE.

If my MSC was in the paint shop yesterday, I wonder if it'll be here by the release date.

Yes, it is a strange release date. Did I mention I am NOT happy about my MINI, which was delivered to the dealer today, will sit outside in the elements for 3 weeks before I can "officially" take delivery. I have never heard of a car manufacturer doing this.

That's plain silly.

I'll bet the car magazines must arrive about that time -- big ads in Automobile , Car and Driver, R&T and Motor Trend.

That is a real bummer to be so close and to have to wait 3 weeks. Maybe they'll allow visits.

I'm betting on some publicized showing of the F56 at dealers everywhere that week or weekend. We might even attend in Scottsdale.

You know why Mini did on a Tuesday. Because they can. Jk. They did on a Tuesday because it's a slow day for car sales. Launch it on a slow day makes it a great day. Then Wednesday is good all the way to Saturday which is normally the best day. So the whole week of sales will be through the roof for the week not just trying to sale them all on in one day. Which is your #1 day to begin with.

I'll be calling my dealer later this morning to discuss this. No way to change the pickup date but I should be able to have my car protected while I wait.

IMO MINI made a mistake by not officially informing dealers sooner than this week about the April 15 date. My dealer (supposedly) knew nothing about the delayed release until yesterday.

FWIW, I didn't order a car but stopped in to talk to the manager and MAs (I used to hang at the dealer 1-2 times a week) and I was told the 15th then in conversation, not like it was a big deal but they seemed to all know it. Maybe you dealer is hoping you will give them the benefit of the doubt. In the end it doesn't really matter because you still cant have the car until the 15th. Good luck and congrats!!!

But what is going to cause anyone to show up on a Tuesday?????

There has to be a trigger, and most likely it'll be ads in car magazines arriving a few days earlier.

I read all the car magazines, and the only reason I have a MCS in production right now is that my wife wanted to look at them when I suggested we look at Kias, Mazdas and Hondas. I found this forum, learned there was a new (possibly more reliable) F56 and decided it would be interesting to visit a MINI dealer. We're in our 70s, so I think my wife's interest in MINIs is very unusual!

My local dealer let me play with the new F56 today. They even put it up on the lift and let me poke around underneath it. I got a test ride (didn't get to drive) in the base model. It's super impressive... I'm glad I chose the base one.

They had 3 of them in... Thunder Grey S, Black S, and a red base model.

The car is really nice. I spent about 2 hours there messing with all of the features in the different models.

That doesn't surprise me. Although when I called the MINI Hotline yesterday the service rep knew nothing about the April 15 thing. She checked and could find nothing. The last memo she had from MINI was from March 19th notifying dealers that F56s would be arriving at dealerships within the next week.

Sounds to me like MINI needs to improve their communication line with their dealers. Lack of information only ends up hurting the reputation of the dealer and/or the brand.
