F54 JCW Clubman suspension options in 2022

Hey people. I have a 2020 JCW Clubman. It has the fixed JCW suspension. I love the power of this car and most things but the handling hasn’t really met my expectations.

For context I had a 2007 Cooper S I loved. The car handled well. Turned in with immediacy and was just fun to chuck around. I understand the Clubman has a lot more mass to deal with so that’s a challenge.

Im wondering what suspension packages are out there. I am searching for that mythical goldilocks suspension. For those of you have driven modern porsches GT4 etc - Im thinking that kind of suspension. Compliant but still sporty.

Id like something daily-able but gets rid of that body roll / harshness you of the stock set up.

Maybe that doesn’t exist? Who knows. But I thought I would try.

If Bilstein had an option, I’d go with that, but it doesn’t appear to exist yet. So, alternately I’d be tempted to go the KW route:

You have probably already thought of and considered these suggestions, but I'd start with the following before looking for the goldilocks shocks/springs or coilovers:

Start with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and a rear sway bar.

VIP makes a 23mm rear sway. Compared to NMs 22 and 25mm. Its a good middle ground.
22 you might want more, 25 might be too aggressive unless you match it with a 27mm front bar.
But a Clubman is a little heavier the NM engineering 25mm might be right.

I’d start with the NM Engineering 25mm rear sway bar, Powerflex front control arm bushings and non-RFT tires. I have those plus AST springs and Bilstein B8s.

If I had to do it again I’d have skipped the springs and Bilsteins. The other 3 mods actually made the biggest positive difference for me.

I did the NM Eng. 25mm GT rear SB & End Links, Chassis Bones Braces, and run the Michelins 4S. Car handles great. Not a track car, but can corner very well. Don't have the power of the JCW (yet), but will soon.

I had Lowering Springs on my 2020 JCW with a Whiteline Front Sway Bar and an NM Rear Sway Bar. The Harshness wasn't changed from stock but the body roll was greatly reduced and the turn in felt perfect. I would recommend Sway bars and finding a set of comfort struts or coil overs to improve the harshness of bumps and road joints.

I really liked the change from the chassis bones over the stock brace as well. Still don't have a rear sway bar because I haven't been able to find an affordable (installed) option for less than $800 or so.

Worst case scenario, labor is 2 hours, <$400. bar is $250 for a VIP

Are they gouging up there?

I was looking at the NM bar + end links + labor around $800 at an independent mini shop, more at the mini dealer. Will look at the VIP bar.
