Since my F54 didn't come through with the 18 inch wheels that I wanted, I'm now looking at aftermarket options.
My initial thoughts are to stay with a 18 inch wheel, but there are so many more 19 inch wheel options out there, I'm tempted to go that route.
With that said, I was wondering if there are any F54 owners on the forum who may have a Clubman equipped with either the 19 inch JCW wheels, or an aftermarket set-up who can comment on the ride/handling qualities?
We test drove a Clubman S with 19's, then 18's, then 17's and decided to go with the 17's. It really depends on what one is seeking. Ride quality/smoothness within the bounds of MINI-ness was what we were after and we got a little bit more of it with 17's.
Glad we stayed with the 17's and really glad to have changed out the Pirelli 225/45/17 run flats for the same size all season performance Vogue Signature V's. Quiet, smoother, plenty of wet and dry grip for us.
I think the 19" look is great on the Clubman. But the ride compromise kept us with 17's.
The other question is suspension engineering. What is the optimal wheel/tire size for which the Clubman is engineered? The dealer couldn't tell us, but did validate our butt observations of smaller wheel diameter = smoother ride.
Also, I've had 19's and 20's on Jaguars, and man there's so little sidewall....
Check out the latest on the F54 picture thread. Looks like 19"s were installed on a new Clubman, so you can get the straight scoop from someone who just got the 19" JCW's.
I've done lots of wheels applications for Porsche vehicles. In fact, for years I pretty much moderated the wheel fitment thread on a couple of Porsche forums, so I understand the mechanics quite well.
In any case, there's always a trade-off between aesthetics and performance, and I was curious to hear what some forum members here had to say regarding their experience with different wheel sizes on their F54.
And some would say the 17" wheel is a little quicker, but who knows?
Funny you mention it. I swapped the OE 17" for 18" with non-RFT (total package weighs less) and was surprised to find the car feeling a little less spry. Not entirely surprisingly given that increasing the total diameter has the effect of changing the final drive ratio (note that many OEs simply alter the wheel/tire ratio but leave total diameter ~unchanged)... but surprised that it was actually noticeable.
I had the 19" on my F54 JCW but purchased 18" Neuspeed RSe12 Light rims and installed non-rf Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 snow tires on them before the car left the dealer since I live in the Northeast. I won't know how the 19's feel until after Easter, when I swap them out. The 18" ride feels very good but I think we'd be the wrong people to ask since our suspension is firmer than the other models.

Because of their more aggressive offset, I think the 18 inch Neuspeed wheels actually look better than the 19 inch JCW's
I have the 19" wheels. They are REALLY cool looking but they do provide a VERY firm ride, especially with the factory run flats. I ended up purchasing a non-run flat replacement (at 11k miles when the cords starting showing on the fronts, but that's another tale for another day...) and it seems to have helped a lot. I get a ton of compliments on the car, especially with these wheels but if I had to do it again I think I would get the 18" wheels, just because of tire pricing. The factory run flats are around $350 a piece with my dealer employee discount.

How are you the 19inch are horrible on the jcw I changed mine like 14 times no kidding please bro let me know when u switched the rims and tires to 18 neuspeed did red caliber fit good and sensors and how did u install the sensors and all that to the tire and rims sorry asking u a lot of question but u might be able to help me big time with ur knowledge from owning a jcw before me
I am also on the fence with getting new wheels. I am lowered (DDC with AST springs, 12mm spacers all around) and have the 18" wheels right now, and I swapped out the run flats for some 225/40 Pilot Super Sport tires a while back. And now I am at the point where I will need new tires soon. I was thinking maybe I can stick with the same wheels and move up to 245/40 tires for some extra sidewall to fill up my wheel wells since there is still some extra space. Also I like that it will add some width to the stance.
Another option would be to size up and get 19 x 8.5 and try to get a thick enough tire to match my current, at the very least. I wouldn't mind going this route, but I definitely do not want to end up riding on rubber bands.
When you say clown car, do you mean that they make the size of car itself appear smaller? This is the one I saw recently that go me thinking about it...
The wheels in your pic are too big and the sidewalls (profile) are too short. Looks goofy to me (too much rim and not enough tire). The car would look a lot better (and drive a lot better) with a smaller wheel and a taller sidewall.
Here is my Mini with 16 inch wheels and taller sidewall. For me it looks and drives perfect. No need to go with a larger wheel.

This is mine, had it 1 month now, after getting rid of the run-flats and getting 235/35/19's it rides much better. I won't use the 19's in the winter, the Denver potholes killed the run-flats in two weeks - pics here
In the Fall I'm going to get 17's, maybe 18's to absorb the bumps better and probably get snow tires on them or something like Michelin CrossClimate+ or Vredestein Quatrac Pro All-Seasons with the severe snow rating.

those look fantastic. well proportioned. I have 40 profile tires on my 18’s (runflats) and the roads are the worst here. The drive isn’t that bad, I think I’ll be sizing up. I have 18” grip spokes for winter and 18” masterpiece for summer, soon to become winter boots

someone local to me has 19 inch masterpieces off a countryman. and my car has a melting silver roof so i feel like it'll look sweet

my masterpiece wheels are stuck in quarantine at the moment. I sent them out to have all 4 refinished since I’m nuts, and when I bought the car they had some superficial rash. Tires have 10k km on them, I’m not opposed to selling them and using the grip spokes for winter. I was going to send them in and make em matte bronze (they are black, and roughed up). I’m a nice drive up from you.

if there was an opportunity to go to the Canadian GP i might have taken you up on the offer. My wife and I did a few days in old quebec city and then made our way to Circuit Giles Villenuve. It was 2014 some got to see Riccardo's first career win.
I love those wheels and tried to get them for my Clubman, but for some reason they I will never get, apparently do not fit (how they "fit" other clubman from same model year is a mystery....if you put bigger calipers on your S wouldn't it require same tire/wheel that is on JCW? or am I misunderstanding why the JCW has different size requirements?)

The masterpiece design comes in 2 sizes. 19” x8” (et45) for the countryman and 18” x 8” (et57) for the clubman that was part of mini yours, in canada at least. They were a pretty expensive option . The 19’s would need a
35 profile tire not to mess up your speedometer and it would sit out 12mm more from the offset but can’t see why they wouldn’t fit. The 18’s will not clear jcw calipers, but the 19” might.
