Antenna ripped out...

My Girlfriend drove the MINI thru an unauthorized car wash without my permission ( ) and the antenna got ripped out of the base along with the female screw piece. The antenna is gone and the base is cracked and broken on top.

I know this has happened before to SOMEONE... I called the dealer and they said it would be $400. They did say it doesn't need to be covered and that water would not pool in the roof thru the hole. I hope they're right.

c'mon... How can I replace the base parts, base and antenna? Can I go in thru the security sensor in the backseat roof? Or is it more intense?

Any help or direction is welcome, car wash suggestions are not.

Thanks,
-Steve

Everything that I have seen and read says that you just pop off the security sensor and the antenna parts are right behind it. You should not have take down the entire headliner. I know that I have seen pics of antenna replacement on NAM or MINI2.

whenever something bad happens to our cars we usually take the opp to upgrade the car- so if you are looking to replace the antenna, i'd suggest getting a honda s2000 one

shorter and better lookin imo

i think itll run you about $50. sorry i dont know anything about the base

Yea, I had the Alta antenna on when it went into the car wash...
I really liked the look of it. I may change up to a diff one... But what other bases are available?

Depending on the model year and equipment (you have an '05, apparently without Nav), the antenna bases differ. Most of the antennas can be replaced by accessing the mounting nut and pigtail cables through the motion sensor hole. Other versions have an amplifier mounted below the roof with the nut on top which is accessed by dismantling the base from above and removing the mounting nut and removing the amp from inside the car.
