ElectricalFor discussions regarding wiring up electrical modifications such as radar detectors, brake light mods, power sockets, and driving lights in Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs.
I have a 2007 mini cooper s and im looking to install a new after market head unit. I have everything apart and the wiring harness to the new head unit all hooked up. But the new head unit wont power on (tried three different head units) I tested the voltage with a volt meter on the constant and accessory. Both have power. But the unit still wont turn on. Im out of ideas on what the issue could be.
I've figure out what the issue is. The head unit's RCA connections are not connecting to anything on the mini's harness. See pics: If any of you guys has any idea as to how I could rewire this myself (which number pins I would have to wire the RCA connections to) that would help me immensely
. Thanks!!!
Hi. Did you manage to get it sorted?
fitted mine today, and everything working aprt from the indicators above and below the display including the fuel level.

You probably did not hook up the Canbus cable from the car's harness to the new radio. I think it's black, one of the smaller connectors?
The Canbus is what carries the warning lights, speedo, and fuel level.
Not a black cable: a smaller black connector from the car's wiring harness with maybe 6-8 small wires going to it? It is separate from the large connector in the photos.
It would've been hooked up to the old speedometer, you need to transfer it to the new radio. Go check again: are there any open terminals on the back of your new radio, or do you see any unused connectors in the car? Different radio but this is the connector:
If everything is connected then double-check that all the connectors are fully seated. If the Canbus connector is hooked up and properly seated then it's possible you may need to change some settings in your new radio.
I think the issue is with the canbus, as there wasn't any on the box. I will need a different iso canbus decoder..which I cannot find.
Still looking for a different 16 pin iso Can bus decoder wirring....the one which have in line already fitted the canbus box.
