Possible to 'convert' an HID kit?

I have a slim HID kit from my old car which is a 35W H11 6000k kit and was wondering if i could 'convert' this into an h13 kit. I was thinking of ordering a set of H13 6000k bulbs from sharphid.com along with the appropriate wiring harness and plug it into the old ballast. Would this be a feasible solution rather than buying a whole HID kit? I also don't mind the bulb out errors since it goes away shortly after starting the car from what i hear. Thanks!

It'll probably cheaper just to get a new kit if not the same price. Wouldn't be bad to have extra ballasts anyway.

Yeah that's true. What's the basic process to install HID's into the R56 anyways? Is it just basically take out the halogen bulb from the headlight housing and then plug in the HID bulb in there?

Don't forget about glare. The extra light produced was not meant for the halogen housings and that just isn't cool.

That is true but I guess my kit is a little better than a $30 ebay kit so it really has a decent output that is not all over the place. I have had my brother drive in front of me and oncoming to see how it is. It is not blinding like a lot of those other kits you see on the road. Maybe its because I have lamin-x tint on my headlights but I have not had any problem with the glare and never been flashed.

I have a bunch of photos in my gallery on this subject. Yes in general if you put an HID kit in a "reflector housing" you may get a lot of glare. However in this specific case, several of us have proven the R56 housing produces a remarkably clean pattern with a well defined cut off. With proper aiming you will be fine.

Is that H11 Bixenon or single filiment?

That's good I guess. I just know how crappy those halogen bulbs were when I got my car, I knew a retrofit was in order. I'll have to check those pictures out.

EDIT: Not as bad as I expected. Not OEM, but definitely 95% better than most drop-in kits I see everyday.

Trust me I agree with you I wish I could afford a retrofit but I was quoted above $700. This kit that I have is great and was less than $100.

Here are some pics of mine.

I understand. I hope I don't come off and sound prickish as that wasn't my intent. Yes the beam pattern is better than I had expected. So if we are playing show and tell, here is my first firing of my retrofit. This is just the driver's headlight and it wasn't rotationally adjusted yet. Sorry about the crappy iphone pic

Gotta admit that is nice. I'm sure it is def worth doing and I really did want to. Being a college student its way out of my budget lol. If my hid's were blinding oncoming traffic like ive seen some of them especially on older hondas then I def would have taken it off.

I hear ya. I graduated last year and miss the fun but having a decent paycheck is awesome too. For future reference, $300 and some time you can retrofit too.
