Electrical Water Fall LEDs
Water Fall LEDs
I want to replace my amber water fall LEDs to blue. Does any one now the specifics on the LEDs I should order. My local RadioShack does not stock anything for electronic parts. So internet sites would be more useful. Thanks in advance!
Not sure what a "water fall LED" is, but do you mean this?

on the '05 -'06 (I think) the place where the clock used to go, there are two LEDs. They face downward to illuminate the CC. I will take pictues later, when it getts darker. They are orange/amber now and I think it would look good as blue.
he is talking about a Tintop Imagox, there is what they call "waterfall lighting" cause it "bathes" the dash in orange light, FL blue MINI the other part besides on the upper trim is also under the toggles, that section is also considered part of the "waterfall lighting" I actually want to take the top 2 out or at least turn them off. I like the darker look

Cabrios have it as well -- downward facing orange LEDs on each side of the dome light button.
Yeah and the cabrio have them under the switch bank as well - when I put in my custom switchbox, I added extra orange LEDs to keep the look - mine are actually brighter then OEM now.
Whether they're simple 3mm/5mm LEDS or surface mount units soldered in, you can get blue replacements at Oznium.com. If you can get me a pic of the unit you want to swap out I can tell you what part number you need. NOTE: If the LEDs are surface mount (look like a teensy LED mounted in a white plastic box shape) then you might need to invest in an expensive "tweezer tip" soldering gun to affix the LEDs - a traditional pencil-tip soldering iron will just melt 'em. Unless you plan t do a LOT of these for a fee, that's likely more than you want to spend. Maybe an electronics-geek friend you know might have one?

I'm my own elcetronics geek. If I don't have the right tool, I will go buy it to help complete my collection.
They look like 3mm, they are smaller then the regular 5mm available at Radio Shack.
