Hey Dan, i did some looking and the GW3's only come in a 225/55/17, which is a little tall for the MINI. As far as other winter tires go you can never go wrong with a blizzak: tire rack has a price of $161 for the LM-25 RFT(runflat) 205/45/17. If you go up one size to a 215/45/17 (it's only .3 to .4 in. bigger in outside diameter) you can get lots of stuff. I am a huge fan of the dunlop sp winter sport M3: $128, i've sold a ton of them at sears and everyone likes them. I'll do some looking while at work today and see if i can come up with some goodies for you if interested. Hope this helps

You might find this thread to be of help in your tire research:

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to the R56 CAI.

A Twin in Town...

A friend of ours saw Belle's twin. He was waving wildly and wondering why I didn't wave back when he realized it wasn't Belle. He figured they thought he was nuts -- I said no, just a MINI fan. I'll keep an eye out.

Thanks.

You'll have to keep an eye out for them!

This will be my second winter with the iPikes. They're not the most expensive winter tire you can find, but they've certainly served me well. I motored in some fairly icy conditions without missing a beat, even when there were other cars off in the ditch.

Thanks guys for your input. After doing some research online and in Consumer Reports and talking with European Motors here in Cedar Rapids, I went with the Pirelli 240 SnowSports. A little pricey but read a few reviews of MINI owners in the midwest and many liked them better then there summer tires that if they could they would keep them on. Was thinking bout going down a size but would rather get new wheels in the spring since my OEM set is a little dinged up. Will plan to just use for winters I guess. Looking forward to getting them on and seeing what they can do. Thanks again guys!!

Hope everyone enjoyed family, friends, and lots of good food!

Taz should have new winter shoes by the end of the week. The all seasons just aren't going to cut it. Oh well...

Decided to go with the Blizzaks on our crown spokes for our winter set-up and do like ITALNJOB84 and order new summer wheels as soon as we can make up our minds. We like the Kazera KZ-J with the anthracite accent.

Any suggestions?

Thanks...have a fridge full of leftovers now that need to start disappearing.

Hard to go wrong with the Blizzaks; they're really popular. I put my snows on last Friday and am super glad now since I'm driving to MSP early tomorrow morning and the local roads are still a bit iffy.

If you haven't yet browsed this NAM forum, you should. Enough talk of wheels on MINIs to make your head spin!

I drove in the snow yesterday. Will definitely get snow tires next year! Took the corners in town a little too wide! Hard to believe my little car used 2 lanes a couple of times. (it was kind of fun!) I will just have to go slow this winter. I drove my son's Miata last winter with snow tires and was quite impressed with the amazing handling they provide. I am taking notes on what all of you are using on your MINI's.

On the upside - my son just bought a house with a 2 stall detached, insulated garage! It will be the Miati/MINI shop. My son is a bit of a spoiler though as he already told me I am not allowed to hang any MINI posters or such. I think some MINI accessories would add some real class to the place! I am thinking a space heater will be the perfect house warming gift for him. And when he isn't looking something MINI themed WILL end up in there.
