Not that it matters, but I don't think Jan is against paying vender fees. He's just not allowed on the forums.
I'm in complete agreeance!

That was my impression.

Plus, it's a little more socially acceptable than calling it the "HOLY FREAKIN' ****!" head. :impatient

Jan would love to be a vendor and hopefully the people in charge of NAM can make that happen.

Just look at how big this thread is. Jan has some really cool things in the pipe line that would make for great entertainment in the future.

Cheers LDG I was trying to work out why they use, at the moment it is the one I would choose if we were upgrading.

I'm looking forward to having a go on one

Nor do I have many customers who find it beneficial to participate on NAM. For if you knew who we are, and that of our racing accomplishments, you would understand.

See, this is what I was talking about. You slam other venders, you slam NAM by saying that your customers are too good to participate on NAM. Also, you choose to use my statement in another thread without responding directly to my post.

I've visited your site and from what I can tell, your head looks good, but I'd like to know what it can do for me. By going on NAM, I see results (deltas) from people who post their HP increases with RWM or Thumper heads.

Rather than get on a thread and disparage others, you would be better off to say "those are wonderful results. We've achieved similar or better results with the use of our heads in the past, blah, blah, blah" and post some data. Thumper is a good example of a vender who participates well in discussions (though his spelling is bad ).

I don't think it's quite like that. Right now it seems to be DMH vs. anyone he finds a threat to his ego, including happy people like owners of the Jesus Head. I feel DMH needs to apologize for terrorizing this [and other] threads, and should be suggested to actually post information on his products instead of ranting how awesome his methods are.

NAM Management thanks you.
Sorry but I have an issue with this. I would like to know what is offensive? I would like to know what % of the NAM population has been offended?

Examples -

1) I was in the extior/interior section - there I saw roof graphics of the Japanese flag and bonzai symbols which could be offensive to some. Will you remove those ? will you allow vendors to offer them on NAM?

2) What if this had been called Martin Luther King HEAD w/ a picture of Martin Luther King and someone said it was offensive - would you react the same? Equally the Sadam Hussien Head? The Star of David Head? The Adolf Hitler Head or the Clansman Head?

While I appreicate that there must be guidelines and supervision of a Board - it is a community and when a FEW are able to dictate, we are no longer an open community. Those offended have the option of withdrawing from the Board.

The board should not be DICTATED by a FEW.

My thoughts exactly. If you're offended by it, don't read the thread! This is a public internet forum guys, not aired broadcast radio/tv. You have the CHOICE to come here. You registered to be on the site, and there's PLENTY of stuff that other people could say was offensive. Go on youtube. You don't see them pulling off questionable religious material because people find it offensive.

First of all, there's nothing offensive about a picture of Jesus. The simple fact that people find something so subtle/harmless offensive confuses me. Second of all, even if you DO find it offensive, it's the choice of the individuals who posted it, not you. If I had a bumper sticker on my car with the same thing, would you call the DMV and have them make me remove it?

If everything worked the way this signature picture thing was handled in this country, things would be pretty wacked out.

Imagine if anytime something bothered .1-.2% of the population they just called up the president and had him change it in their favor. So much for freedom .

Welcome to America, a free country, with freedom of speech, expression, and religion .

Or so we think .

I have the utmost respect for those that bring us this Board and I appreicate that running NAM is not an easy task but they have just opened Pandora's Box.

I pity the person that has to decide what is really offensive and what isn't. If I happen to worship a religion that thinks black wheels on a car are blasphemous, and someone posts a set of black wheels, can I have that picture removed since it offends my religion? Oh I can't? Why not... oh, I see, because YOU think it's silly .

I'd be surprised if there weren't quite a few things on this site that offended at least one member. The difference is when someone is so self righteous that they actually ask for site management to go against the first amendment and ban free expression.

A better way to handle the issue would have been for an admin to make us aware of the issue, and give us the choice, or for the person to directly ask in this thread.

I'm not a ****, I have no issue at all if someone came in here and said "My kids sometimes come into this forum, and I know my wife would find this offensive, would you guys mind changing it around a little so it doesn't have a picture of Jesus on it? I'd appreciate it, thanks!".

The fact that they actually got site admin to MAKE us change it though, is just ridiculous .

I agree with the above but it's ot. Nam has proven to not be a free market of ideas, take it or leave it i guess. And american history is proven you can do anything you want except have a laugh involving jesus. You can make fun of any other religious figure...

As far as this head goes. Development for the r53 is awesome. I encourage it from every angle possible. Competition for numbers and competition for race wins are about equal in the development they provide. While I don't necessarily think drama needs to be a part of head design... what is car stuff without bench racing and trash talking.

It does however seem that nams guidlines are forcing a bit of this drama on us. I hope that vendors can get past the lunacy that is nam regulations and get onto making our cars faster and competing for who can make the fastest... with proof of course.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... sell me your head, and I'll buy it hook line and sinker.

A few things....

1. I was taken aback when asked to remove the image of Jesus from the badge. I expressed my dismay but as part of the greater community on NAM I complied.

2. I am not speaking for NAM when I say this but as the admin of another forum (www.aquaticplantcentral.com) when I say. While the forum is based in the US it is privately owned and as members we agreed to a certain set of standards that are admittedly somewhat arbitrary at times. We all have the responsibility to comply to managements wishes no matter how foolish they may seem. Our only rights are those that we agreed to.

3. We should stay on topic of the head and what it offers. I think if we all ignored every other post in this thread that does not directly address the head and it's capabilities that some of the foolishness will go away.

4.
luckydoggarage Hey Paul, amidst all the drama I forgot to ask you what you did for the nos setup on your car.
That is an example of #3. Why was this not a PM to Paul. It has no place at all in this discussion.

5. Don, this is addressed to you directly.

While I do have the exhaust system mated to the Jesus head and find it works quite well with an acceptable level of noise the purchase process was the absolute hardest purchase I've every experienced. While you call it educating if I call you to buy a product why must I be harangued as to my choice of heads to mate it with. Never have I worked so hard to spend $2K.
Also, the manner in which you choose to converse with us may be perfectly acceptable in New Jersey but it not acceptable in polite society. I suggest you make use of the many articles on posting Netiquette available on the internet.

In the event you cannot find any please seek me out at the Dragon and I'll be happy to teach you the finer points. Over a beer of course...

Lastly...Why don't we try to go back to talking about the Jesus head and what it means to the Mini community instead of the death sprial this thread has become.

I'm off to skip merrily through a field of Texas Blue Bonnets now....

All of this would be less necessary if Jan had not been kicked off in the first place... a move I never understood... he was one of the more colorful characters and I always enjoyed his contributions..... so much of NAM has turned to "milk toast" can't we preserve the characters that make it fun

The head should stand on its merits not it name....... BS from the left and right....what about all us people in the middle who don't give a ***

It will be interesting at the Dragon as a lot of the players in this thread will be there... are you going to bring bats and chains or maybe nerf bats..... I will be on the sideline.....

every single one of you who is complaining about PCness on message boards needs to go to www.viperalley.com and poke around on those boards for about 15 minutes. And if you dare... post... see what happens...

this board is overly sensitive to everything. While i would never want to see this board turn into viperalley people do need to realize how lucky they have it. This is the real world... it can't always be the disney chanel.

Also, this is what drives vendors away fromt this business/board. It makes it impossible to promote a product because oppoenents nut swingers also ***** and moan about everything.
