Drivetrain DFIC mods
I still haven't made the time to build my garage yet. It looks be cool on paper though! So, I park outside. And work on my cars, outside... Sort of sucks, but I'll remedy that someday soon, I hope.
One of the benefits I suppose is that once I park my cars, and after they cool for a bit, these ants go to all of the heat exchangers, and carry home dinner!
I remember seeing a large bee on my radiator, and an hour later it was gone. I then saw one ant hauling that thing on his back, and he was already on the ground, and good two feet away. He must have dropped it to a buddy or something! I just pulled-up a chair, grabbed another beer and watched the show. My wife saw me sitting looking at the ground, thought I was depressed, and came outside to check on me. I explained to her what had happend, and she didn't find it all that interesting. Actually, she wanted to take the beer away from me!

Almost, I originally had my boost gauge plumbed to the inlet bung on the DFIC, and I would be able to get a solid 15psi with no problem. I then moved the line to the outlet side bung and would only get about 13.5 or so. I wanted to try to equalize this pressure differential a little, and I accomplished this yesterday with a solid reading of 15psi on the outlet.

Until I see that, I may have to file this one under beer goggles.

Not to get off topic but have you considered getting the ants to turn wrenches for you for food
I mean that's a long haul for an ant to go all the way to the IC and back down.
I bet you could cut a deal.
Minimally, I bet you could get them to go to the fridge and bring you a fresh brew.

Sorry, for taking this OT... that was not my intent.
I haven't seen my wife since mid Jan (in Taiwan for the Chinese NY), so that vision of her coming outside to console me as she thought I was down about something, still makes me laugh a little... I was just watching Adam Ant carry a big ole bee on his back, a mighty success I feel, while I was taking a break from trying to get the dang oil filter cap to align
.
Back to the DFIC! So, you are getting 15 psi post core now... Did you measure pre core again? Might want to check, as it could be higher than before. Just a thought... Either way, nice job.
For the record, I get a tad over 15 psi as measured on my Autometer electric gauge, with a tap point somwhere off the intake manifold. I got a little less with the GRS IC...

Bahama, I've been bugging him about this 'nugget' for several pages now! If we both keep at him, he might let us in on the secret!
. I like to follow what TonyB is up too BUT clearly he has been alone for too long
and he starting to hang out with ants. I think he should gather up the ants, jump into the mini and go to a massage parlor for a rub and tug
Funny you mention alone... In the canyon where I live, if I don't turn on the TV or radio, I can go days before I hear a human voice. Didn't really realize that until I got to the offfice... If all goes well, I'll head to Taiwan in about two weeks, spend some time threre with her and her family (haven't been there since our wedding), take a little side trip to Singapore and Malaysia, then come back to the States together...
BTW, what PARTSMAN did is pretty slick, and I think took ***** of steel! He'll share soon enough... Still want to find-out if the pre core pressure also went up...

As Tony stated above, the reading on the inlet side may be higher now. I have to check it. All I was trying to accomplish was to get a solid 15psi on the outlet side.

Longboard
And Longboard, I'm siding with MSFITOY, you are mean!
Thats a magazine garage, not a real one.
BTW...what's "a little el" mean?
Very nice Longboard!
I've always had a garage with my previous residences... but when I found my utopia, it was minus one. I have about 1.5 acres here, so the good news is that I have space... time and money, as always, are the limiting factors....
The one (garage) I've drawn-up has a very tall ceiling for a lift, or even a rack to support another vehicle above. Not liking the air compressor in the garage, for noise-level reasons, it is to be outside, in its own small structure, sharing the external wall with the garage though, so it is near. And plenty of power from various locations on the walls, floors and ceiling. I've even drawn-in a space for charging a car, as I truly believe I will have one in the next few years (think Tesla, or electric Atom as examples)...
It will have it's own washroom with toilet and shower, a fridge, and also a TV for keeping-up with the games (huge college football & hoops fan!). Don't get me started with the tools, and how I want those displayed and sorted...
I can't help but think of what life will be like with an all electric car though. No talking about and replacing headers, collectors, catbacks, A/F mixtures, spark plugs, gaps, radiator fluid, oil, type of gas, additives, belts, air filters, etc... Probably won't even get dirty working on a such a car, unless you pull the tranny! I would venture to guess that there will be popular electric converstions for today's popular cars. And if one is done for our MINI, at the right price, I'd be all over it. With the tunnel free due to the removal of my exhaust, and I love my custom one, AWD can be installed, or even the power plant(s) can be in the rear, driving the rear wheels only. It all starts, I feel, with the Tesla this Summer: http://www.teslamotors.com/index.php?js_enabled=1.
I guess I just carried this more OT...

Wow, you have plans. I just hope I can plan my next nights dinner
I like electric as well. We have an indoor carting track near by. We go at least once a week. They use Italian electric carts. Real fast and very very fun.
I checked out the Tesla at the LA car show. Very cool car. That said, if you look in my garage pic you will see allot of surfboards. Most date back to the 60's. I ride them all. I love old school as much as I do new. I think having the best of both is the way to go.
Good luck with your garage.

No ants involved, sorry.
I'll try to post more about it this weekend, so I can take better pics.
