HP Guess? Next Steps??

Hello NAM Members:

I know that the best and sure way will be uswing a Dyno but, I have made some modifications to My MINI and would like to know if anyone here has the same modifications and how much horsepower gain you have had after the installation I have:

1. ALTA CAI
2. ALTA 15% SC Pulley
3. ALTA 0% Cank Pulley
4. MAGNAFLOW Cat Back with MAGNAFLOW Resonator

I was told by the mechanic who worked my car that I do not need to upgrade the ECU. Could this be true He did recommended to install a thermostat (M7) What do you think. Also, where should I go next. I was thinking about suspension. I have already installed an M7 Strut Bar and thinking about front and rear sway war. Any suggestions. I read that the Alta Rear sway makes some sqeeky noises and if true that is some of the noises that I hate in a car is this true with all bars front and rear?

I won't even try to guess what sort of hp you're putting down, but I'll offer this: in terms of your suspension, you're likely not going to want a front sway bar. The vast majority of MINI owners are content with just a 19mm rear anti-sway bar. You'll get varying responses to which ones squeek and which don't, but note that any squeeking can be done away with with some lube.

One of the quickie reflashes (or even the JCW file from your dealer) will help you get the most out of the intake+exhaust+pulley. Might want uprated injectors then.. But the car will be fine with the stock ecu / maps. Just not full potential. Do some searching around, your level of mod is veeerry common and so are the questions.

I have the alta 22mm.. If I could go back in time, I would have went with the 19mm. (mostly because I also now have camber plates and the 22 is prolly overkill).

If this is purely for spirited driving, then the rear sway bar is prolly your best bet. If you'll track occasionally, or just want "a little more" (plus better tire wear) consider some camber plates. Fixed are economical, plus you'll protect yourself against strut tower mushrooming. Search for the ireland engineering fixed camber plates.

check the dyno charts and see if any of them have a similar set up, that would give you a ball park estimate of hp.

I'm close to what you have, I don't have the crank pulley and do have a Unichip this week I saw 179.5 on the dyno I would guess you are very close to that. I also have a sway bar and it made a big difference.
