OK, so I just wanted to use my new digital camera some more

Here are some pics of the MINI specific Shroth 4 point harness kit. It's not on the website yet, but they are available. The cost is $225.

The Schroth can be unclicked and removed for everyday driving, in about a minute, and then replaced for track work. The rear seat belt and front stock belts remain in place and fully functional. This is a very trick little design.

How would it look using a stock sport seat?
Also please remind us what colors are available: Red, Blue, Black?
Are they comfortable enough that one could use it for everyday driving? Assuming no one needs to use the rear seatbelt that is.

You could definitely use them everyday.

They come in Blue, Black, and Red.

I have some on my stock sport seat, I'll take some shots. They work well, and just end up going between the headrest posts.

There is absolutely no way you could use those for everyday driving. A harness holds you firmly in place which just isnt practical for daily driving.

You can adjust them - I have used them for everyday driving. You don't need to have them cinched as tight for the street as you do the track. That's what I like about them though, if you don't want to use them on the street, it takes all of a minute to throw them in the backseat and just use your stock seatbelt.

They were designed to fit into the MINI without modification - similar to the BMW units already on the market. They utilize the factory clip in on the rear right side, and a "dogbone" on the left that uses the factory bolt for the rear 3-point stock and piggy backs so the stock seat belt is left in place. The front is similar - it uses the factory receptical on the right side and a bolt that retains the stock three point harness adn mounts the retainer for the Schroth. All four points unclip in a few seconds and the Scroth can be pulled out of the car.

I have been eying the Torino. How do you like it. Does it squeak like the stock seats? :smile: Can you use the Universal mounting bracket or do you have to buy one made for the Mini? Can you fit the seat heaters in it?

But tight is how they're engineered to work. Anything else is a compromise of your safety. Is it really worth it? I agree, the point of quick install harnesses so you dont have to use them on the street!

i put the schroth in my car (driver's seat) and it is great, but i only use it at the track. the problem using it loosely is that (without a submarine belt) a forward torso motion will cause the shoulder belts to pull up the lap belt into the chest/diaphragm; not good . you have to keep the lap belt tight.

Here's a pic I already had - it's not great, but gives some sense. BTW, these are a great option for the dual use car - track and street. It's so easy to clip them in and out. I don't think I'd used them on the street for the reasons others have mentioned - either too restrictive or too loose (and not coil tensioner built in). But they are great for the track.

Love it!

No squeaks.

You need a special MINI/Sparco bracket and some basic Sparco sliders.

Seat heaters: no chance as far as I know, but the seat is cloth so you don't feel the cold anyway.

I actually got the COOLPIX 3100!

OK, OK, so you have to tighten the lap belt - I have still used them in that form with the shoulder harness a little loose (compared to the track), but as I said, one of the really nice things is how quick they come out.

I snapped the shots tonight. Here they are:

Just installed my new Schroth harness into the MCS. Took it out for a spin around some twisty roads and was thrilled to find that I no longer have to use the wheel for both steering and holding myself into the seats!

I tried to find the post I put up a while ago...something like, "my new boots". Can't find it yet but I posted the source link in the thread. It's an aftermarket piece for the Tiburon. When I find it, I'll let you know. It was reasonable at $45.

I really like my set too. Installed them last year for Autocross and track day use. I am concerned however, since I believe NASA will not allow their use at HPDEs anymore. I'll find out for sure this Sunday during tech at the first NASA Northeast autocross event.

What's the deal Alan? I saw that BMWCCA only allows 5 point belts not 4. After doing the 4 points I had to take them to 5 as they aren't really safe. Is this the issue?
