Cool tube and polished clamps

Had time on my hands so I of course had to fiddle around with my car.

Added thermal tape to the intake tube and then polished the IC boot clamps.

Thanks.

I was going to do before/after temp measurements but I got the tape on Friday and had spare time soooooo I just did it. Someone else do the tests

I figure it can't hurt.

I've used the stuff in the past. Wrapped oil cooler lines in it. I ran frame mounted remote oil filters and the lines for both ran past my headers.
Fuels lines as well.
I ran an oil temps gauge and did note a small avg. temp difference.

You can buy this now which looks much easier than wrapping feet of line by hand . Ahhh, the old days

Coming up next...header wrap

Very cool! What kinda IC boots do you have? And what did you use to polish the clamps?

Got the boots from GT Tuning. Odd though, I just looked and you can find them on the site.
I just PM'd him on MINI2. Roland2003

Polish?
I took down the parting lines with a fine file, prepped it with 600 grit and then used a bench grinder with a 6" cloth buffing ( a felt wheel would have worked better but I didn't have one ) wheel that I treated with Blue Magic ( a polishng compound I've used for quite a while ) but I'm sure any decent product will work. You want it to be a paste type though or it'll fling off. It does anyway but every bit helps.

It's soft aluminum so it worksd easily but that also means you can mar it easily too.

I'm sure it could be done with a dremel tool using the small felt wheels.
