My Dyno - Quite Happy with the Results!!

Okay, today I attended a dyno day that was hosted by braddmann (owner of a 800hp Supra). A lot of imports showed up, including some Skylines. I was quite optimistic about my car hitting 180whp, instead it hit some crazy numbers!! So without further adieu, here is my car's info along with a dyno graph:

2005 MCS w/14.8k miles

Performance Mods:

Alta 15% S/C Pulley
Alta Intake w/Silicon Tube
GIAC Reflash
Minimania SS Header w/OEM Cat welded
Invidia Exhaust
Denso IK22 Plugs
Approx. 50% 91/50% 100 Octane Unleaded Fuel

similar mods here, i do not have the dyno with the headers yet, but i topped 184whp without them, the only thing i see is things are getting a little crazy after 6K rpms. Good numbers tho

ohhh sorry, i didn't know where to post this thread. Mods, please move this thread to the appropriate forum.

BTW, I also added approx 50% 100 octane unleaded fuel to my fuel tank. I think maybe that made a little difference? :shrugs

Good stuff!! Congrats! it seems it becoming more and more normal for people to hit 200 WHP with the right mods...this is great! imagine with a head....you could gain another 30-40 WHP...that's awsome!!

Cool - here's Mine :) 201WHP

We had a nice cold day here in Virginia Beach and I got to dyno my 05MCS before and after adding a 2% oversized M7 crank pulley at the pulley party hosted by Abacus Racing. Great guys there and a fine shop.

I got four runs total: best 'before' run was 195WHP
best "after" run was [ drum roll please!] 201.2 WHP

<< insert large large grin here >>

Honestly I think the 45% weather had some positive influence, as the intercooler was nice & chilly prior to the runs. That and the tech holding the blower fan over the IC.

The list of powertrain mods: 15% sc pulley, 2% crank pulley, Dinan CAI, LARGE GRS Intercooler, Iridium plugs, Nology wires. Rest of the powertrain is still stock.

FWIW: Tested using Shell 93 Octane gas in my 05 MCS with ~9,300 miles.

Granted, this is before SAE correction

Why the difference in stability over 6k between dragonwang and rclements?

rclements run healthier, but dyno charts are structured different too, simialr mods, i think the cause is the headres to run a little weird on the first one

Thanks for the compliments guys! :D

Tuls : Nah, no head. I think my next setup would be the Alta Twurbo TC Kit.

S Curvz : This is just my speculation but I think it may be because 1) the engine got hotter and 2) the dyno operator forgot to put the huge fan in front of the car in the 1st place. Doh...I forgot to mention it to him since most cars being dyno'ed that day were RWD cars, the fan remained in the same spot.

haulinS : Well...if you're thinking of getting the header, by all means you gotta get the cat attached if ur car is a daily driver. The obnoxious loud noise caused from no cat will be begging for a ticket, let alone a huge fine for not running a cat. First day with no cat, then next day cat goes on. I'm not sure if it changed my exhaust note since I put the exhaust and header on at the same time.

Malcon : Don't forget to put up your dyno when that happens! :D It feels good to break the 200whp mark, trust me. lol.

rclements : Nice numbers you got there. :D

I saw two good dyno charts in this thread. (If there were more, I failed to see them!)

Question 1. How much did the dyno runs cost?
Question 2. Where fans used to provide additional cooling?
Question 3. What kind of dynometer was used (not brand, but design)?

Hi there Bill. Edge has done quite a few Hot Dyno Nights starting about this time last year:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=70245

I think it's still 85 bucks for 3 pulls...

I have not been there yet, but I've heard good things about them!

Hi. Tony.
That is too funny that it would be you who replied to my questions about the dyno runs. I hope I can get loose from work on 14 June to stop at Edge Motorworks to see what goes on.
Bill

Bill, look at the thread date a little more carefully . That was June 14th, last year. But, they have had many of these since, so I understand. You can call them to get the scoop... I'm going to get my UNIChip dyno-tuned first, then I'll go there...
