GIAC rumor

I got a GIAC flash a couple of days ago, on my 03 JCW 210/207. The shop was unsure which program I should get, since I had the injectors but not a 19% pulley, so they called GIAC and I got the 15% program, which was not done with injectors. I was told when they got off the phone that GIAC would be doing a program soon for either a 15% with injectors or a JCW 210 specific program. Even with out this, I was once again told to expect a 10 lb. torque increase. No word on how soon or how much difference there might be, with the upcoming program. The upgrade will be free if I go back to them.

Huh? I didn't know there was a Curry's in/near Hampton - thought they were all up near DC. I had two (out of two) bad MINI experiences with Curry's a couple years ago and I haven't gone back.....they must have branched out while I wasn't looking.

I got it done at Curry's in Sterling. I was on my way back from the Preu Tour & Pro Solo and had planed to dyno at the same time but changed my mind. There is a place in Richmond I could have gone to (check the GIAC site) but they don't have a dyno and it sliped my mind. Now if I go to the Richmond people, the update will cost me a labor charge.

I just checked about a month ago and the Curry's in Richmond is sold. I was thinking of going to Sterling since it's still closer than Philly.
I will be in Upstate NY next month so I'm going to try to swing by Helix on the way back down.

The GIAC place in Richmond is not a Curry's but if I was coming back from N.Y. I'd go by Helix myself.

Yep.

I spoke to Eric. It's a quick mod so I may just po by there on the way home. Stay just outside of Philly and pop in early in the AM.

That'll put a UniChip on the market

we dropped alot of $$$ for suspension and brake work on an old CRX at Curry's and they ****ed us. They really are terrible - I complained to Matt Curry and they walked us out. First time customer and spending $2K and they declined to take care of a $10 crossthreaded lugnut that their mechanic caused. Quality place, eh?

I wasn't real happy with their lack of response on 2 earlier occasions. I think they just lost my potential business.

I also dropped a lot of cash there. They have a great reputation (for some reason) so I left my MINI with a number of things for them to do all at the same time. It's a long story.....here's the short version. They broke original parts that weren't meant to be removed and then charged me for the replacement parts. They took about five times as long as they told me it would take and weren't even apologetic about charging me full labor for it. They told me it would be done so I took off work and drove to the other side of DC.....about six hours after they said it would be done they suggested I rent a car and come back the next day. The exact same thing happened the next day and I'd already turned in my rental car so they loaned me an old minivan to drive for the next four days while they actually finished the job. Believe it or not, that was the short version. Oh yeah, and their rates are outrageous.
