Hey Randy,

I will take one. Please bring one for me at Vegas. I just want to make sure my strut bar will clear. You know the one I have. I have a very thin JDM one.

See you soon

How does this differ from the encolsed factory box? Is it just the bigger and freer flowing filter and hose?

Talked to Randy last night.
The hose will fit and is a better choice than the OEM hose.
I will also have an ALTA sans hose for sale.

The factory box is completly enclosed from all sides - including the cowl area - and uses a flat panel filter.

Our HDI Box uses a box sealed to the engine compartment, but includes a new firewall that is open to the cowl area. We are also moving a high flow UNI filter element with significantly more surface area back further into that cowl area.

As obe said, the Alta hose will fit the HDIB. Our hose will be out shortly as well.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!
Randy

Randy, how does it sound. I'm leaning towards the JCW intake because of it's sedate sound below 4500rpm.

Can you post some sound samples?

If I can figure out this darned new fangled technology, I'll post some sound.

jlm - yes it still uses the lower portion of the OEM box and the snorkel.

Brian, have you heard the JCW intake? Aside from a sound sample, can you give a subjective opinion on the difference in sound between the JCW and Webb intake?

One other question.... If it's open and pulling air from the cowl area wouldn't a modified cowl scoop (like BFP's for example) give even better air flow? Any plans to look into this or offer a modified cowl scoop?

Based on all the posts that have occured on this subject over the years I seriously doubt it will help.

I was considering the JCW for the same reasons as others have stated. I'd rather buy an intake from Randy however. Plus I really dig it's utilitarian, industrial and very purposeful look! I'm excited that it will be one of the first HDI intakes Webb Motorsports has produced and my very first performance mod

Way to go Randy and the rest of your crew

Wow!! Thanks guys - we have already sold half of the first production run!

To the sound - it is less than the Alta but more than a closed rear partition like the Pilo or Madness/Rogue. About the same as the JCW - of course all of this is subjective. It is on Brian's car, so he can comment as well.

I am going to be posting some of the data on why we chose stainless as a material as well. I'm currently checking on the availability of engraving the logo, as well as the cost of powder coating in different colors.

Thanks again!
Randy

At one point I had made a plexiglass top for my ALTA. Worked ok but looked primitive.

All part of the fun.

That's my question/worry as well. Randy, do you have an idea of the price of the hose once it becomes available?
