Stainless Steel One Ball Pipes?

I see that on the other side of the pond GT Tuning makes a nice SS One-Ball pipe that looks like you can bolt in right in your garage.

---------------------------------

This is included in GTT240 conversions and above. This product effectively gives you aftermarket system benefits at a fraction of the price, whilst maintaining the stock tailpipe appearance. The OE system is a mind boggling maze of tight bends with two silencers.

The GTT Re-Route pipe deletes many of these bends and one of the silencers, reducing restrictions and giving a better exhaust note in the process (not to loud).

As an added bonus it also removes nearly 20lb in weight! It is manufactured from S304 stainless steel, TIG welded throughout & mirror polished. Comes complete with new clamps.

£79+vat

---------------------------------

First, is it anything more that a big 90° SS bend with a bump up to 2.5" at the one side? It looks like it also has to "rise" a little over the bend....

Does anyone know of a similar product over here? I think the pricing of that one coupled with shipping would make it a little cost prohibitive.

Thanks!

I got mine here about a year ago. It came with "tbolt band clamps".

Thanks for the fast reply....of course now i have more questions!

So far, it seems to be working well with no issues?

Price? (wasn't listed on the site!)

Did you install it yourself?

Sound change?

I got my one-ball at www.myminiparts.com

price was 125 bucks, i believe.

The one-ball is great mod - eliminating several feet of tubing travel and the resonator.

Car sound wise remains very close to stock. If its sound that you seek this won't fullfil your need. It does however enhance peformance by contributing a few ponies. You will see a dyno graph at fatboy showing 9 hp gain however the car also had a cai so you would have to subtract that from the result. I guesstimate 4 hp increase and for 125 bucks that cheap ponies.

Midas type place - 20 bucks and 20 minutes kinda thing.

tubing diameter is 2.25 which is the stock tubing diameter.

better clamps tha GTT

go for the snip snip

One Ball Mod

It was $125 plus shipping, and it is TWO pieces of Stainless Steel that have been welded together. The weld is rusty, but it is thick enough that it does not worry me.

It is different diameters on each end, as the two pipes are of differing diameters.

I have NOT installed it. I run in time trials with Midwest Council of Sports Car clubs. I am allowed 2 points worth of Mods in stock class. A rear sway bar is 1, an intake is 1 and an exhaust mod is 1.

I am planning on the rear sway bar this spring, and I have an intake that works like the Dinan so all I have to do is change the air box cover to switch between stock or cowl intake. If I put the one ball on, I will need to stay stock on the intake.

The intake makes a great "audio tachometer", so I don't have to watch the tach as much.

I wish I knew which one alone would give more power, the intake or the exhaust. Based on all the chatter on the "intake shoot out" thread, I am leaning toward the stock intake, and the one ball exhaust.

why not run stock intake with an ITG Filter or would that make it a modded intake? And then do the 1-ball. I was speaking with a tuner in germany and his position was that a better filter in the stock box did as much as the CAI kits on the market. Also could you still drill out the back on the stock box and stilll be considered not a mod? this might give back some of the sound noise you like.

one ball mod, air box

I hope that the one ball would be an improvement. It drops about 20 pounds, and takes that nasty U turn out of the exhaust.

My personal experience with CAI is not significant. I have many timed runs on a 2 mile road course, and they are no better with the CAI then the stock box and stock filter.

I dynoed the car, 3 pulls. The stock intake / filter were not significantly different from an open intake. At the time, I passed this off to heat soak on the intercooler causing me to lose as much on the third pull, as the open intake was giving.

With this sanctioning body, changing the air intake path, by using a CAI kit, or by drilling the back of the box count the same.

My wife has suggested a modification that would "legally" lighten the car by 60 pounds, and my Doctor thinks it is a good idea too, but so far I have not been able to complete that modification!
