You are correct. The S2 suspension comes with Koni yellow adjustable shocks/struts and an adjustable 19mm rear sway bar.

By far my favorite upgrade to date.

Right. The shocks and the anti-sway bar are ajdustable. This feature comes with a big assumption that the adjustor knows what they are doing. I just followed the advise of my dealership and just left the factory setttings of the shocks in place. I was asked if I wanted slight overstear or understeer and opted for oversteer which turned out to be neutral in feel to me.

waste of money.....so save your loot and buy them for less somewhere else like tire rack and get a good spring like h-sport or h&r

Umm I was under the impression that you were from dinan 1FSTMINI. But what I really meant to ask was that with the dinan stage 3 suspension I can adjust the spring rate right? I'm looking to be able to drive the car a lot on a track.

no....you can only adjust the rebound rate...I.E..Soft or firm ride. ride heigh adjustability is only in a coilover systems.

I was a rep for them thru a dealership and went my seperate way.

Update on my saga with Dinan:

Cliff's notes and resolution: by no doing of my own, Steve Dinan himself was made aware of my problems with the TWO exhausts I've had from Dinan (both have rusting letters on the tips). This is actually a funny story (to me); if you're interested, we can chat about it over PM. Anyway, when the second exhaust rusted, I called and demanded my money back (this was posted many pages ago), and I was told to wait while they figured it out. Their eventual response was "polish the tips until we figure this out". I gave up with Dinan and decided to eventually just change the exhaust, then (6 months later) I got an email from Steve. I told him the whole story, he researched it, and he saw to it that I will be compensated. I'm getting another exhaust and he offered me a deal I couldn't refuse on the boost upgrade system.

I've got the boost upgrade system right here, and the exhaust was sent to motorworks west for a spring (when the mini comes out) install.

When I went with Dinan I went in expecting the best customer service there is, and in the end, I finally got it. Steve stands by his products and customers.

^ Thats good to hear. I must say the same. I did have a issue with a TB, but they replaced and overnighted a newer updated TB to my dealer no questions asked To date, the car runs great. Dinan service, so far has been nothing short of excellent in my experierience.

Port MCS - did you have the TB installed as part of the boost upgrade, or can you compare the car with the boost upgrade before and after the TB. I ask because I'll have the upgrade installed along with the stage 5 software, but as of right now, I have no plans on adding the TB since I've read so many people saying it throws codes and also because the testing on this site has shown little if any need for it.

Thanks!

The TB is part of the boost kit isnt it ? I had the dealer install the TB, pulley kit, FPR and the required starge 5 software all at once. (the 205 HP kit which is essentially a S2) I know when i got the car back, it was a world of difference !

I wouldnt worry about the TB too much. Like i said, they looked into the problem and updated it accordingly. Havnet had the problem since.

But in talking to Steve Dinan, he says their testing showed some benefit. He's very detail oriented. Nice thing is there's no core charge, so you get to keep your stocker. And it's an easy swap if there's a problem.....

I don't think the TB comes with the kit - it's just "recommended" that you install it, too. It sounds like the TB can be used with the stage 5 software, so if I ever have the extra money, I'll pick it up and have it installed, and like DrO said, if it doesn't work I can just reinstall the stocker.

Its part of the S2 kit which is what i have, without the suspension (yet anyway) altough you can buy most all parts "ala carte" from DINAN

You may have to scroll down to see S2 kit-- http://www.dinancars.com/Mini.asp?Se...is=40&Model=91

Since your local, if you ever want to see and feel what its like, i can take you for a drive. Im sure you'd be impressed

Hey Everyone... Just came back to using NAM....
I bought the Dinan S1 kit and the S3 suspension shortly after buying the Mini and i have to say it its the best everyday driver I could've hoped for... the suspension is great... we have made it to the dragon twice now and I have no need for a more aggressive setup... the exhaust sounds awesome... quiet while cruising, but screams when you get on it... the warranty is worth any extra cost... believe me!
Best of all, having the Dinan badge on the back of my car has started countless conversations with random awesome people almost everywhere I go... not to mention the mad props I get form all the Bimmer owners out there on the road....
I knew I wanted a JCW or Dinan Mini from the start... wouldn't do it differently....

PS: had a 19%pulley from Helix Minisport... the Dinan S3 Software didn't like it... I took it off until I upgrade to a different software... I'm just not sure if I should give up the warranty to save money or just get a higher Dinan software.... but while it was on there the car was a beast....

I just got the Dinan S1 suspension with the addition of the camber plates installed. To that I added the S1 upgrade (intake/exhuast/strut bar). And also put on an alta 15% pulley and jcw injectors on a 2007 Cooper S convertible.

I'm still on my runflats, but the suspension made the runflat ride less harsh. I can't wait to ditch them to see how much more comfortable the ride gets. With the new suspension, the mini is now a very livable daily driver with plenty of power when the need comes up. The exhaust burble is fun to listen to, and now I'm finding myself driving with the top down even in 55 degree weather just to be able to hear the exhuast as I commute to and from work.

I have to say that I am very happy with the way the car is set up now, and it is ready for the RMW tune in mid January. Then its time to save up for some new wheels and tires. I'll let BMW replace my brakes once or twice with my 36k mile service, then its time for new brakes..

Alex - good to hear from you again! Glad all is well with the car. By springtime I'll have the S1 plus the boost upgrade.

Hey everybody, just wondering what the most up to date info is on what's the best replacement air filter element for the Dinan intake. I seem to recall someone finding one with an open end rather than the closed end that Dinan's unit has. Also, does anyone else have any thoughts on how quickly it gets dirty and needs cleaning/replacement.

Minspeed has an ITG filter for the Dinan intake. I've used ITG for the JCW, and I like it. Don't know if it's better, flows better, or whatever, but it's a reputable company and is reusable.

I was looking at the Dinan Exhaust in my past.. but decided to just go with a one-ball due to the cost... If the exhaust was a full cat-back, I'd look more seriously at it. But since it is just a clamp on for $700+, forget it...

Is the Dinan site down or it is just me?

I mods are as follows.

Dinan,
Stage 4 ecu
Throttle Body
Intake
Exhaust

I will be calling around tomorrow to find the best price on the Stage5 ecu & Boost upgrade kit with installation.

As the way my Mini S sits or drives it is alot of fun & sounds great at WOT or idle.I just want it a little faster now.

Call Dinan, is it a warranty issue? The reason I ask is that this is something all us Dinan customers will need to begin considering as our warranties expire. I'd like to know just where I can get replacement parts or if I'll always have to call Dinan for them.

Warranty issue, and I am having problems getting only the fuel pressure regulator. The dealership only knows about the full kit. They are checking with Dinan
