It's never too late for people like me who are strongly considering making the jump.

I wouldn't hesitate to jump in...... one thing I learned a bit too late was my dealership offered a 10% discount on part AND labor if I was a BMWCCA member, and anyone can join the BMW car club. Check out the details where you are, you might save some money.

The suspension package is outstanding. I've messed with the adjustable Koni's up front but have not messed with the adjustable rear sway bar as of yet. I've had a few of the local autocross hot shoes drive it and they had the biggest smile you can imagine.

Good luck with your purchase.

OOOH! The anticipation... that's the hard part but, when you get it back, it won't be so "cute" anymore

Thanks!
I am not going with the Dinan mods for re-sale value. I do not think it will hurt your value but at the same time I do not think future Mini owners will be banging down your door and throw money at you. The majority of the current and future Mini owners are not into modifying their Minis under the metal. If this is something you want to do than I would say do it....if you are doing this to make your Mini something special then I would say just drive stock.

When you do sell it, you might just get lucky enough to have someone find it and pay top dollar for it. IMHO that is not very likely.

I want to mod Jerome for my own enjoyment.

I just know that the Mini has held it's value rather well. Just wondering if moving to a Dinan badge might instill that a little more. I appreciate your input. I am strongly considering Dinan due to the relationship between BMW and Dinan, even if it can be a little tricky at times.

That is the same reason we are going with Dinan, so I think you are on the right track. Just when we go to sell them lets hope they know what Dinan even means.

Have fun.

I don't think they have been successful in prying owners' fingers off of the steering wheels yet so we can only speculate about resale value.

You should be very close to the S1. Go to the DINAN web site and check off the items needed. You might be there or you might be missing some items - eg. strut brace or mats. When I have the engine components done I had the DINAN badge but required the mats! They add so much HP you know.

You might be right, I thought it was just based on Points, but I guess not. I don't have the Strut Brace or the Mats, so that probably explains why I didn't get the badge. I have the M7 brace which is nice and beefy, so I kinda hate to switch -

ah, is it worth a badge? I'll have to think about it

Sorry to jump in so late too

We have a 2006 S that we're upgrading for Mini United 2007 being held this June in A-dam Holland.

So far I have Dinan shocks, struts, springs, rear sway bar, strut tower brace and rear deck badge coming next week. I will have them installed with IE fixed camber plates and BBS RG-R 17x7s wrapped in Potenza Pole Position 960s that I already have. I guess this technically gives me a Stage 3 suspension.

I plan to order everything for the Stage 1 engine upgrade except for the software. There are no Dinan dealers outside the US so I'll have to wait for my next trip to the States to hand carry my computer back for upload.

My question is will I qualify for the engine S1 plaque or is the software a deal breaker?

Which kit did you install? Did you put in a throttle body? My dealer says that's their first thought when EML comes on. That and check for leaks.

You may not qualify for the badge initially, but once you add the software, contact Dinan and I believe they will issue the S1 badge at that point.

Ah ok, so, I think the exhaust and throttle body are the only differences between ours. Do you know what codes if any were stored in the computer?

I don't know just how tweaked the Dinan ECU maps are, but they are technically designed for the complete package, so I don't know whether the exhaust and throttle body would have any significance. It would be interesting to get more details. Dinan did tell me that they only just updated the ECU for '06 models about 4 months ago.

I have a fully built Dinan car at my dealer and the car hauls ***....After 4500 the car just takes off like a bat out of hell. Everyone who has every driven it was amazed with the power and how fast the rpm's go right to redline.
