Drivetrain Dinan upgrades
Yes Scavenger. JCW needs the competion to keep their prices down. Were you successful in acquiring your DINAN badge for the rear hatch?....and a numbered plaque for the engine compartment? Port MCS, keep this in mind as well. I'm not sure if DINAN offers this automatically and you might miss out if you don't ask your dealerhip to get it for you. BLKDINAN is currently in the shop for addition of the Hamann bumper and grill to match the Hamann wheels - sill and arch painting as well. My loaner is a brand new - red and white automatic Cooper. Still fun to drive and I feel right at home.
You are correct regarding the badges; they must be earned. On the Dinan website, each item is assigned a points value. To recieve the rear chrome badge, you must have 7 points. At a minimum, you'd need the following:
CA Intake - 2
Boost Upgrade - 4
Stage 5 ECU - 2 (Required by Boost Upgrade)
That's 8 points. For many people, this may be enough, but like you said, without the throttle-body and exhaust, which the ECU seems to be tuned for, you might not get the optimum "Dinan-prescribed" performance

EDIT: That's actually not the bare minimum, other combinations will earn 7 points, I didn't factor cost into it either.

[quote=BLKDINAN;1372726]Just a thought for those who are thinking about DINAN components. Seriously consider doing ALL of the components in the series either S1 or S2 or suspension. I've seen a number of posts where someone complains about a "flat spot" or some other issue. Seems they are mixing components from other makes and complain that the DINAN products are not up to par. When I had the S1 I decide to add a 15% reduction pulley but did not have a boost system. Predictably the engine did not achieve the high rpm. My fault not DINANs. DINAN offers high quality parts. I'm fortunate now to have the S2. The engine is smooth all the way up and the handling is superb. Please reconsider mixing and matching and if you do, don't complain.[/quote
I agree that if you do not use the products that the vendor produces for their kit you may not achieve the performance numbers that was quoted.
I also agree that Dinan provides good products.

Did you qualify for the rear badge with these items?
Hey thanks Scavenger! Yes, im keeping the Borla. Makes no sense to get the Dinan exhaust. And the CAI ive got is the cheapo K&N system which came with the car when i bought it. I may upgrade that to the DInan CAI as well and get the strut tower brace later on. It seems i will have to order the stock intake tubes from the dealer, as when the previous owner put this CAI on the car, it uses new "open" pipes, and i dont have the stock intake box either! Also, my car is lowered on H-Sport springs, but i am considering doing the whole Dinan suspension as well. I need an alighnment anyway! hehe...

OH, and yes, my parts guy at my dealer actually mentioned the DINAN badges i would get before i even asked him, but said he cannot put an order in for them until everything is installed. Once installed, he said he will let me know how long till i get them
Now to submit my paperwork/receits to get my rebate from them
No I do not think so, I have to spend a little more money.
PortMCS, you can also use the Alta intake (black) tube instead of the stock one. I ordered the Alta for a smoother flow of air, but surprisingly the stock intake tube was also fairly smooth. So either one will do but IMHO the Alta looks a bit tougher.
Hope this helps.

Good to know! Actually, I think I'm going to have to pass afterall - I'm even a little farther south than you I think, and my "honey-do" list is pretty long...
Am planning on the MoS R56 event though.

It was great to meet you and Frankie today at MoS! I hope your suspension upgrade goes well! You'll have to let us know how it rides
Happy Motoring!
Nice pics! That's an interesting grill you have, very cool. So, you have 2 Dinan badges? How'd you get 2? I faxed my invoices to them on Monday, but my badges haven't arrived yet, I'm getting impatient, I'm wondering if I need to give them another call.
They are probably counting up your points Scavenger. While waiting to pick up BLKDINAN at the dealrship today the sales staff kindly offered me a test drive in the new S. For the uninitiated, I'm sure it is a great ride. I would like to see what DINAN does with it. Could be a lot of fun.

Blkdinan, your car looks great
Thanks Acorin. I rushed the photos. I'll take better ones when the Hamann wheels go on. I'm showing the car in an all British car event. Now, that it has a German front end, I wonder if I can only show the back half.

Has anyone notice an increase of Value on resale with the Dinan Mini's? I'm temtped to start the process, just wondering if I will hurt my resale later on or if I will make it a little more firmer.
Thanks!
Thanks!
