randy at webbmotorsports told me the stock belt is best.. continental is the manufacterer.. (stock belts dont shred like the others) i have 2% crank and 15% reduction pully with stock belt.. no issues so far..

good luck

I have just ordered the Alta 2% Crank Pulley, and it seems that the regular MCS belt is recommended. I want to change the belt when I install the crank pulley (50,000 miles on my MINI), but have been quoted the retail price by a MINI dealership as $95.00. I would like an OEM belt, but thought they were available for much cheaper. Any suggestions? I could have sworn I saw posts with much lower prices quoted for OEM belts.

After calling around to several different MINI dealers, I have been quoted different prices for the belt from each, ranging from $27.25 to the original quoted retail price stated as $95.00 discounted to $76.00. Most quotes were for prices between $30.00 and $40.00. My advice: shop around before buying a belt.

Belts

Speaking of belts, does anyone have any input as to how to relieve presure on the tensioner? I have a 15% alta sc pulley already installed, and I have an alta 2% crank pulley ready to install. I installed the sc pulley without removing the tensioner, but it was a bite to re-install the belt. I thought of making a bar out of flat stock with two pins to insert in the pulley on the tensioner. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, are the napa replacement belts ok?
