Being that I only intend to "occassionally" track my car, it is really worth it? I know, answer to this can be rather subjective, but just want to get your take on this.

I also have my eyes on a set of Borla Sport (or Race, supposely the same thing). Very close in hp gain and costs about $150 less. Can't seem to decide which is a more sensible choice. Does anyone know which is louder? I like throaty sound but don't want it LOUD.

Chime in, guys
From what we're being told, it is Miltek quiet in the closed position (which was Randy's goal and why it's taken so long from announcment to production). Miltek seems to be the most popular daily driver exhaust due to lower volume and tone, but isn't the best in HP gains. The Magnaflow has posted the best gains so far, but it is much louder and has a more "ricey" sound to it IMO. As for Randy's new exhaust in comparison, the HP gain numbers we are hearing (official gains will not be released unti the exhaust is) are huge! Mind you that this exhaust will supposedly get better gains in the closed position than any other exhaust. Imagine what will happen when it's in the open position for your track days. For $150 more, it's no contest. I've been waiting since Nov for this exhaust, and I don't plan on going elsewhere.

Is there any plan to make the exhaust without the cutout? For example, could you just use the same muffler as the driver's side on the passenger side as well, and just have a 2-muffler system with no bypass?

I'd think you'd be better off with just 1 muffler. Save weight, expense and it's supposed to already be as quiet as the Milltek.

I talk to Brian the other day and asked him the same question. They have way to many projects right now. I think if more poeple keep asking this, they will do it.

But wouldn't the two-muffler setup give more power?

I didnt explain this to MINIMeg, but a two muffler system would be much more expensive than the current model. The muffler is where most of the cost is coming from.

Like some people have allready said, this is a STREET system that is capable of being a track exhaust. That was our goal. I have gotten several calls and comments asking for a street system without the cutout, but we dont really see the point. It IS a street exhaust.

When will they be out on the market? We actually installed our second production model this week at our shop. However, as some of you may allready know, we are having trouble getting our current manufacturer to commit to our orders. We are now looking into ways of speeding up the process, so the systems make it to our customers in a timely manner. As soon as the production kinks are worked out, you will see them flowing out into the market.

What about a system that doesn't have the passenger side piping - that only has the driver side + muffler? Would that actually be less expensive?

After talking with Randy about this I think that there is no reason as there are several good exhausts on the market and without a real differentiation..... why bother... at least for now

Not initially. You would have new design and production costs. If demand were low it may actually not save money at all.

so you're saying that the muffler is going to be more expensive than the cutout piece?? I thought you said that cutout piece was like >$250....oh and the point of it to my extent would be LEGALITY in cali...

Legality ... ???

If you are in CA and REALLY worried about legality ...
You can't do ANY modifications.

Vehicle code 27151 change that amplifies or increase noise
No cut out is section 27150

umm...i thought it was like 91decibles...

and the cutout law was my point up there...if they could make one with two mufflers instead of one and a cutout then i might want one...

Waiting ever so patiently...

I don't see much point to selling the system without the bypass. Really, what's the point? If it ends up putting out 3-4 more hp over milltek and magnaflow closed..then ok, I could see some sense in it maybe.. but even then, from a production standpoint, you're talking about a unit that will be built to have a bypass... they'll have to retool and raise the expense to do without the bypass altogether to make it a single muffler system altogether.

KISS... Keep it simple (Silly?) lol

Randy, Brian... I'm waiting till the bypass is ready to go, with switch and all that. I have a feeling once a few ppl see it on SpiderX's car at the Dragon, the demand will shoot right up. I still love the idea of on demand loudness to blaze thru our underwater tunnels here in Norfolk. Not to mention that I'm going to my first Autocross tomorrow... can't wait for that experience!

retool??? now I am not in the business of building exhausts or anything...but uhh...the piping is already done...also it would be a mirror image of the other side...

Not much thought, planning, engineering..design..has to go into that one....

and again..the point would be for all the people in cali to have the system on their car legally...

depending on the officer and the section that you are sited for
95 decibles (measured 50 " from the centerline of travel)
guess why "side pipes" are popular.

cut out NO in CA !!!
and if this is sold in CA and not marked for racing or offroad ... RANDY (WEBB MOTORSPORTS) will be responsible for replacing !

I seem to be working the exhaust thing on many vehicles.
and I am modified but not STUPID LOUD (read Harley open pipes)

Been cited a number of times and got out of all of them (so far) because the section of citation doesn't match the officers explination in court.

SAME FOR Speeding lots of ways to get out of those
but cant talk about that here

I thought you can't talk about street racing or speeding as per rules of forum

From guidlines ...

LEGAL
Posts relating to street racing, excessive speeding, or violations of other laws are prohibited. If you want to race, take it to a legal venue.

I woulD the also guess that the LEGAL part of this discussion is FORBIDDEN ???

Correct. you cant talk about your speeding. But I dont see anywhere where it says you can't talk about legal strategies in a courtroom?

I know for a fact there have been several VERY long threads about strategies for getting out of Reckless Driving tickets in VA. Just do a search.

Here ya go https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...iving+virginia
