Sounds like a good plan to me Doug. I'm sure Abacus sure won't mind back to back installs either. I'm figuring on 2 - 2.5 hours worth of install. Randy typically charges an hour for a standard exhaust, I figure another hour or so for running the switch.

As far as earlier stuff about figher jet style switches... no thanks. Spent enough time in the cockpit to enjoy something more user friendly. My vote (if anyone cares) is for the un-used switch on the MFSW (I have an '03 2 spoke design) or the phone button on the newer units. I can't remember where, but obehave spyed out a proper relay for use for this button somewhere. Even if Randy doesn't use that set-up, a switch is a switch... nothing stopping me from making it work that way right?

Combine that with some Johan-Built gauge pods and gauges... we'll be well on our way to badassdom.

I think Rob (robsilvermini) posted about the switch originally. Don't remember now

Maybe we can get Johan there as well. He is talking about doing some testing using my HDI.

Question! Does the WMS exhaust have one tip or two? I've seen several photo's of Randy's car with what appears to be at least a 3" pipe and only one exhaust tip. Actually, it didn't even look like a tip, but just the 3" pipe extending back?

Well, I would've preferred a toggle on our toggle boards, but somebody from Webb said it wasn't possible and that the most likely position would be by the hand brake. Am I the only person that thinks a switch like that would be cool?

You can use a toggle on the toggle bank by using one of the windows-up circuits (Ian Cull's or MCAW). Both have a feature to operate a garage door opener from a toggle. Just hook it up to operate a relay instead.

You can also utilize the unused phone button on a 3-spoke steering wheel. mikeythemini of newministuff.com sells a circuit that causes the button to operate a relay. I have it hooked up to toggle on-demand viewing of my OEM rear view camera. See post #26 in this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=53297

Mine is mounted in a "not-so-cool" place on the left side of the wheel......

The "switches" are not relay types they can not handle power...... you could run a line to a relay etc......

I'm driving out to Randy's this weekend for a whole bunch of stuff, including the exhaust system

WMS Ported manifold/supercharge runners
WMS Throttle body
WMS Head
Milltek header
WMS Exhaust
WMS short shift
Helix 's new Bosch 380cc injectors

A few other odds and ends also. I had Randy's FMIC which didn't work out so I'm waiting on more results on the M7 DFIC before I upgrade that.
My sig is a little premature!!

Any word on the switch? That is, when it'll be shipping with all the exhaust systems?

Absolutely!!!

This was too much to do at the PP or would have had it all done there.

We are planning on dynoing the car before and after also so we can see what the delta is.

Was just wondering as I've been lurking on the sidelines of this thread for awhile now ... And I believe I saw someone mention this "issue" before. In California is it legal (ie; will an MCS pass CA smog w/a switched exhaust) if you have an inline switch in the exhuast system as in the WMS design. I'm currently very interested in what WMS has put together but a little unclear on this one point...

Anyone have any insight into this?

on my car, a Milltek

you can get the exhaust without a switched valve (a plate) so that it is more of a track/road system... The switch adds cost and it has been suggested that people source their own valves.

My switch is in a non optimum position on the left lower dash... looks funky but that's where it is.... I will probably make a SS panel to house it with a "fighter" style switch with a cover.

as far as the exhaust.... contact WMS they should be getting units very soon

In another thread, forget which one, CA law was quoted and an exhaust by-pass is illegal. Different states have different laws. They are illegal in my state too.

This is different than, for say, the Porsche sport exhaust available for older Boxster S and 997S that has a switch that just changes the tone of the exhaust but does not totally bypass the mufflers into a straight pipe.

Here is the MD law

"a) Mufflers.- Every motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine shall be equipped with an exhaust muffler system in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise, and no person may use a muffler cutout, bypass, or similar device on a motor vehicle on a highway."
http://198.187.128.12/maryland/lpext...s-main.htm&2.0

In least here, it would seem OK without a switch. But no muffler cutout or bypass.

Here is CA Law
"27150. (a) Every motor vehicle subject to registration shall at all
times be equipped with an adequate muffler in constant operation and
properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise, and
no muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped with a cutout, bypass,
or similar device."

http://info.sen.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displ...le=27150-27159
and further

"27150.1. No person engaged in a business that involves the selling
of motor vehicle exhaust systems, or parts thereof, including, but
not limited to, mufflers, shall offer for sale, sell, or install, a
motor vehicle exhaust system, or part thereof, including, but not
limited to, a muffler, unless it meets the regulations and standards
applicable pursuant to this article. Motor vehicle exhaust systems
or parts thereof include, but are not limited to, nonoriginal exhaust
equipment.
A violation of this section is a misdemeanor."
