Hey Randy or Brian,

I've been looking at the new exhaust and it looks very promising, but I have a question about the location of the blocking plate/future valve and it's effect on the system. Have you guys looked into the effect of the reverse exhaust pulse when the plate is installed or the valve is closed? I would think it could have a slightly negative influence on cylinder scavaging, but you guys are the experts not me.

Actually, it helps. Reason being is the outlet location between the tips and the block plate.

With regard to the system, check out our post in the Vendor Announcements.

After spending tens of thousands on this damn thing, I will finish it, and it will be right! It just may be the end of May or so before I have it the way I want it.

Randy,
You've got tons of people in line for this thing. I think the suspense has been good marketing on your part .

I am now in the same boat as you. Resonator needed as soon as possible. This thing sounds mean! Too loud inside the car. Sick top end improvement !

I think the distinguishing characteristic between this system being street tolerable and ridiculously loud (even in the closed position) is the header. I don't think that the system is all that loud for the street. There is some initial noise in lower gears up until about 3,000 RPM, but after that its awesome. I don't have the header. I still love mine and wouldn't want to tone it down at all. There is some rattling going on somewhere in the system that I have yet to pinpoint. I have talked with Randy and he said it might be in the muffler. He said when they start building the system at their facility, he would be happy to send me a new one if that was the problem. We'll see.

Shawn, hope you enjoy the system. It is pretty exciting to finally have the thing, ya?

Hey Matt,

I am starting to love it but would like to have a resonator on the system soon. Also , I was going to install my Miltek header yesterday and I held off till a later date so I am running the stock header as of now.

PS Matt........I dialed in my drop last night and my SSRs look sick on this car! Thanks dude!

So you think the system is too loud with the stock header? Interesting. Maybe I just like the more aggressive note. Post some pictures with the car dialed in. Glad you are happy with everything!

With the stock header I still think that the resonator would make it more driveable for most people. I've come to enjoy it all through the band, but I think with the addition of the resinator I could learn to love the bottom end just as much as the top end. I'm waiting on my cat, but once that comes in Ill take some vid and post it in my thread so that everyone can hear the difference.

As you can see I've got the header, a 4% crank pulley plus the 15% sc pulley along with the head, etc. There is a lot more air flow going through this so I expect it too be a little louder than a car that is more stock

I have one of Randy's Prototypes on my car and absolutely love it. On the highway, even with headers, its not as loud as my 05 with the Alta(the Alta had a drone). That is, unless I pull the plate out, which, I did at the Walnut Ridge National tour and have been loving it ever since. ;-)

I finally decided to get my car Dyno'd with the new exhaust. On a dynojet, the shop is charging me $65 for three runs. However, if I want to do any work on the car (including unscrewing 4 bolts and changing the exhaust to the open position) they are charging me $60. I don't really want to spend the extra money as I have other reasons for wanting to know what the power is in the closed position. If people here are interested in knowing the open position numbers, I am willing to accept small donations to cover the cost. Let me know if people are interested. I am scheduled for June 2nd at 9am at Advanced Motorsports Inc. in Irvine, CA.

I geuss you could call it the second R&D phase. Brian's car is being used this weekend to mock up the new system at our new local manufacturer. Stay tuned for updates as they arrive.

Randy,

When can the first gen MWS exhaust owners expect to see the resonator? I truly have a love hate relationship with this exhaust at this point. I feel as if the resonator will be the rest of the love I am looking for. Please update us asap. Also...clean out your PM box . Looking forward to finishing this car off with the valve (reason I spent the big money on this system) and the resonator (much needed). I can tell you that the car doesn't sound like any MINI I have ever heard!!

Got the Mini dyno'd today. I had it done at Advanced Motorsports in Irvine. It was fun and not too pricey at $65 for 3 base runs. The exhaust is in the closed position and they wouldn't let me switch the plates out in between runs (they said they could do it for me, but another $60 just wasn't worth it to un-screw 4 bolts). The only other mods I have are the Alta CAI and the 15% pulley. The numbers are about what I expected. Unfortunately, I don't have a baseline to compare the before and after.

Randy or Brian,

Any news on when the valve is going to be ready? Also, the rattling noise I was talking to Brian about is definitely coming from the muffler. Any news on when you will have a new muffler or if you are re-designing the entire system? I would love to replace the muffler and keep everything as is, I love the sound and don't necessarily want a resonator if I don't have to. Thanks, still love the system!!!!

Yes inquiring minds want to know. I have to be careful in town about the noise. The cops pull people over on a regular basis for too much bravado!
