Drivetrain Motor mounts?

Been running it now for a few weeks and everything is great (other than the fact that I initially cut my bolt too short and will need to replace it).
Being that this took only minutes and did not require any jacking of the engine or removal of existing parts, I'd say this is a quick and efficient way to enhance the stability of the engine without doing too much.

2 heads eh?
Definitely sounds like a worthy tradeoff. I have the Powerflex bits, just the yellows, an dlike them. If this achieves similar results for less effort folks should be quite happy with it.
Another good deal from the free thinkers :cough: budget minded :cough: in the MINI community.
Can anyone comment on the relative quality of the NRG vs. the Ingalls? From talking to Rob at Ingalls, ability to resist the heat in the engine bay is key to dampers lasting long-term. I suppose I could give NRG a call... if I do, I will post the results.

I actually considered this alternate mounting method, and it seems really efficient, with no fabrication involved. It places the damper a lot closer to the engine, and may increase the heat exposure. It's possible that the Ingalls is more heat resistant, even though it uses polyurethane bumbers internally, with a aluminium body and steel piston like the NRG. My damper gets pretty hot sitting out there a lot further from the engine than the engine block mount would place it. I presume that if the polyurethane is sensitive to heat it would become more compliant at higher temperatures, lessening the damping effect.
cheers,
cheers,
JMHO, but that's awfully close to the motor... and, that sheet metal there on the frame rail ain't the strongest either... There's a lot of force being applied.
Pretty much all the damper units use elastomerics (rubber or urethane) - there are some that are fluid damped, though.

Driver's side transmission mount
All,
Does anyone have any ideas or solutions about how to reduce the compliance of the driver's side transmission mount?
Have been following this thread for a long time. In post #23 I asked about stabilizing the driver's side transmission mount. Haven't seen any posts on this topic, so thought that I'd ask again.

I'd say go with the group buy, as it's mighty cheap!

Actually, hadn't thought of that... but I'm confident enough in my masculinity not to let that be the deciding factor.
