Engine Light on because of GIAC?
I was driving back from Helix and my engine light came on. I was coming back from having the GIAC, injectors and 19% installed. We think it might be the injectors or the GIAC, anybody else has this problem? Eric thinks it might be an issue with the 05's

If your gonna play the ECU game....
you HAVE to have a scanner. There's no two ways about it. There are several hundred items that can throw a code. Without knowing what's going on, all you know is the mother in law in the system isn't happy.
Let me revise the title, "if you're going to work on your own computer controlled car, you have to get a scanner." Even better, get a logger. All the loggers can read and reset fault codes.....
Spend a little more, and get one that does dyno calculations........

No clue....
But I've been looking around....
Some names that come to mind are Auterra, AutoEnginuity, and Nology's PDA-Dyno.
I'm playing with a G-Tech accelerometer performance system, and it's pretty cool, but the RPM pick up is flaky for me....
I'm not settled on logging solutions yet. Search on PLX-500 and you'll see one way to go (with lots of pretty photos of a hacked ECU harness), Bim-Com looks to be pretty complete, but it's not released for sale yet. I don't think it does HP, more data logging and systems health.
I also looked at an el-cheapo LapLogger, that DOES work, but it's just logging, no HP. It's good for programmers, as it comes with source code. I've also used the CarChip E/X but it's just a logger, with a 5 second rate, and only 4 variables at once..... Reads and resets codes, so it's a nice starting point....
Another one that looks good is a Nology data logger accelerometer combo for cars that can't support diagnostic port data logging. The 3-d plots look wayyyyy cool. Check the nology web site.
But like I said, I only have experience with the GTech. Can't even comment on the PLX, other than the install is some real work, but it's not even finished yet..... Others here have some of the other solutions, so ask around. Also,, they work for cars other than just the Mini, so do some googling to find other inputs....

yeah it was resolved. I just want to say that I didn't want it to seem like something got messed up. with an 05 car with a certain code of GIAC the bosch injectors cause the engine light to come on because of the fuel being to rich. Eric switched out the bosch injectors and put JCW ones in (FOR FREE!) and that solved it. He is great and I highly recommend going there to get work done!
