Drivetrain New Intercooler - Manifold
Dyno's have a fan, if not two, blowing through the front of the car. If indeed the Gintani's exhanger is in a front-mount position (I would bet so), it will receive that air very well (as designed), especially if the fan is positioned or aimed at it...
Top-mounts require the hood or bonnet to be closed for the scoop to funnel or divert the ambient air, trap it, build pressure, and force it through the core's fins. When this not allowed to happen on a dyno, the fans are simply at best blowing over the IC's surface, unless we are talking the DFIC where it will see some of the benefit of a fan due to its forward-facing orientation...
I think Randy has been running with the Gintani for over a year now, so that does say something. I know that he really liked his FMIC though, but as I recall, it had connection issues due to the engine's movement. I noted the price of that unit being $2,300, so these solutions can get costlly...
As I posted early-on this thread over a year ago, the concept of incorporating the intake manifold with the IC, or aftercooler is very appealing. For those of us in CA who must deal with the **** visual inspections come smog time, the inability to easily swap back to stock might be problematic, and the reason I inquired about CARB certification. This is a big consideration for many of us, and a part of the reason I'd never consider twin-charging in CA...

I went to the dyno day at Gintani this Sunday and this system is very much a reality. If you go to their shop, they are available for installation now. I saw this on at least 4 different cars and it looks sweet. If you are serious about getting this, call them and ask about pricing. They are very friendly and helpful. My car with the mods in my sig pulled 180whp, I saw their car pull a 240 whp so I think they know what they are doing
That's gtood to hear...
maybe now they'll update their site with more info, and actually add some contact information for their distributors! If it had taken any longer, the car it was designed for would have been out of production!
All toung and cheek aside, it's good that progress is being made....

An air intake is not included with the Gintani system, so you should be able to do whatever you want. Good luck....
I don't know if you even get an empty box....
True: you get to go to your favorite box store and choose your own. Even the box is customizable.
My kit came in a 12"x24"x18" box from Staple's, and it included 3 packages of packing peanuts, a vortex generator, and a sticker ('cause really, it's all about the stickers).

Yea at least you got a box and some stickers!

Sounds like they are still in stealth mode.... Maybe they are prepping for a big announcement with a special 10% off for the first 1,000 orders starting January 2nd????

Have any of you called them to try to order one?
I haven't, so I don't know... But the idea is sound, even if the time to NAM vendor presence isn't.... Smaller intake volume (good), potentially more efficient heat exhanger (good), lighter weight (good), heat (actually cool) resivoir to supress short term heat soak issues (good)....
If they'd give me one, I'd try it out! I think it would work pretty well.
