Just installed Kingsborne and the engine light came on. What did I do wrong?

Did you make sure that they really snapped into placed. Double check them. I have had the Kingsborne feel like they snapped into place, and then after double checking and pushing down real hard, they really snapped into place.

i think they all snapped. I ran the car and it'was running fine. Will engine light go away or I need to bring the car to service?

Engine light will go away when the car experiences three successful cycles. So if you turn on the car drive it for some time with no error and then turn it off and let it sit a little while. Do this three times and it clears the light on the dash.

Sometimes it could be from a misfire or a cylinder not firing. If there wasn't a good connection, the spark may have never gone off and it would have thrown the light.

One of my stock wires poped off of my car and it did the same thing. Another set of stock wires had a short in them and it threw the light as well (you can tell I haven't had a lot of luck with stock plug wires). I have had the Kingsborne on two of my MCS's and no problems at all. If it runs fine after the light goes off you are probably fine. It could have been a ton of other things not even related to the wires. If it does through the code again, I would replace the wires with another set of Kingsborne. I know quite a few people with these wires and I have never heard of any problems.

I installed a set of the Kingsborne 9mm plug wires last year and they had to be pushed on what I thought was very hard, but I did feel a pop when it was seated on right. I never had the engine warning light come on though.

If you think one of the wires is bad, yes put your old ones back on to see what happens. If the light goes out switch the wires one at a time testing the engine each time.

I think I have problem associated with other thing than plug wires. I switched bcak to stock wires and turned engine on/off more than 5 times and the light is still on. Now I'm back to Kingsborne again, because I really feel the different on the respond plus the car run much smoother than stock, eventhough both give me service engine light.

I guess I have have to pay for this service then...

Find someone who has a scan tool, or go to Autozone or somewhere like that where they will pull the code for you. They can also reset the light for you.

It isn't simply turning the car on and off. There is some predetermined time the car must be running with no problems for them to turn off. Someone on here probably knows the exact amount of time for the lights to clear. It is three successful cycles. But I can't remember what a cycle consisted of.

Is the light blinking? Mine came on for some unknown reason and stayed on for about a month while I waited for an appointment with MINI of Mt. View. (They were booking two months in advance at the time). It went out by itself after a month. The Service Manager told me that if it comes on and is blinking, there is a problem. If it comes on and stayes on it means it detected a problem but the problem isn't occuring and this exact moment and that it can take up to 40 cycles of not detecting the same problem before it goes out. This is just what they told me, I have no way of knowing how accurate this information is.

Well...Mine is not blinking. I hope that's not a serious problem.

I already did set up appointment for next wednesday for a service. I hope it's not because the plug wires, pulley, CAI or exhaust....otherwise I would have to dig my own pocket for the service...

Well, since you insist on ignoring the advice given you, good luck and I
hope they find something other than the wires to be the cause of your
problem.

Well...I'm really appreciated all the advices given. Although, I did try everything I could, but I think the problem may be far beyond just ignition wires, plus waiting for a month just to run 40 drive cycles is just too long. Yes, that is right Bentley Service Manual also says that would take up to 40 consecutive drive cycles without the fault being detected to clear the fault code. For a drive cycle to be initiated, the car have to be start cold and brought up to 160F and at least 40F above it's original starting temperature.

yahoo!...The light went out by itself. What I did is just a special TLC. I washed him and just talked to him a little about how cool he is. I think he heard me.

Thanks for all of the advise!
