Pop Gurgle Gone with Factory JCW Exhaust

I wanted my 2013 R56S to be louder, so i did the resonator delete ($40) last month. Car sounded great, pop and gurgle was pretty loud. I decide to get the factory JCW exhaust. Install was really easy, thought it had to be welded but they just had to cut it and clamp it down, only took a few minutes and $35!

I drove it a bit yesterday and there was some smoke, i assume that's normal right? It seemed to go away today. In addition, the loud pop and gurgle i had is gone. Does it need some more break in?

Remove the 2nd and add an evolve high flow downpipe, music and no drone!!!

I put a FJCW exhaust with no resonator and 2nd cat on. With the DP it pops so much and sounds amazing, even Detroit Tuned said it sounded so good.

On a side note, let it break in for 50-100 miles. It took mine a little without the DP to pop and gurgle.

Def need to get some miles on that exhaust ,then it will start making some noise.

Where did you buy the JCW exhaust? I've been debating different exhaust systems. Was considering ALTA but heard some questionable issues with fit. Also looking at NM, Milltek, etc, but they're all so expensive, and I feel like people really like the JCW exhaust. Other than the fact that it's not popping yet, how does it sound compared to stock? I have a new 2013 Cooper S and I feel like it's kind of quiet. I don't want to make it obnoxious...just a bit more fun.

You'll want the FJCW exhaust trust me. Others will drone slightly and are more obnoxious IMO. FJCW sounds more sportier than the MCS exhaust.

I installed the NM Engineering downpipe back exhaust and I'm very happy with the sound. The fit was perfect, the only thing that was lacking was the clamp at the downpipe but I got that from my MINI dealer before installing.

+1 On NM Exhaust. While I will agree the fJCW exhaust does have a slightly better note, the NM exhaust is slightly larger in diameter (very slight). Negligible I'm sure, but it makes me happy. Plus with the cat-less DP my '07 does pop and burble. No not as loud and consistant as a N18 engine, but it does happen. And the more miles on put on the car the more consistant the pop and burble has become. I love it

All the pops came back after about 100 miles, took a while because my daily commute is 5 miles. CA Laws make it hard for me to remove the 2nd CAT :(.

I bought it from MINIPartsMass, from the thread below. But it looks like they are Backordered at the moment. You need p/n#18307646678.

It's stated as 60mm tubing. I don't know if its dead on 60mm or a little more. But if you convert 60mm to inches it equals 2.36". So only slightly larger than stock. Buuuuut if its actually close to 63.5mm then yes it would be 2.5". I would assume if they state 60mm then its closer to 60mm than 63.5mm. All this is assumption of course. I never actually measured the exhaust when I installed it last year.

Just wish the JCW muffler looked a little nicer...not that it really matters compared to the price of the NM or Milltek. I'm pretty much set on the JCW...just not sure to resonator delete or not.

Just didn't have the money to go for the NM, since i also just bought their Intake. But honestly, i think you have to go with the res delete!

2nd CAT isn't monitored so no codes will be thrown.
