I like a true stand alone gauge. The scan gauge and apps are calculated boost readings

I just ordered a BT OBDII connector and will compare.

I really wish the powergate III (the obi tune uploader) we get from battle tuning had the ability to monitor/log

That would be great. Get data logs. Could even get pertinent information to plausibly help adjust a tune to a real world driving scenario.

+1

But if you have a BavTech it would do the job as well. E90Post has these for sale all the time with 1 or 2 vins left on them, selling for $100-200 respectively. Clear/read codes and activate features I believe. Good investment at the end of the day.

I'm aware the JCW came with a larger turbo as well as a redesigned inlet manifold. You were talking about just Cooper S's, not a Cooper S to a JCW, which is where I was asking you to expand on your figures. If you're talking about the difference between an 08 Cooper S and an 09 JCW, alright. But all Cooper S's have the same turbo from 07-10. All JCW's have the same turbo from 09-12.

Naive question as I've never done a dyno run, but when doing a dyno run does the dyno need to be able to simulate a load to get a proper reading? The dyno in town here can do runs, but the load simulator is not working. I assume you do need a load, but I thought I would check with everyone else who has already done a run to see.

I just ran across a recent post about John no longer offering tunes till next year?! Anyone else hear this?

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post4000740

And does anyone know if this applys to people who have the tune already? If I need adjustment, am I screwed?

Anyone know the reason? I don't have a battle tune but we're customers happy? Were the tunes successful?

We are suspending further tuning until next year for new customers; all our existing customers will still get our undying attention, that is not an issue.

We just don't want to add more customers while we try to develop other things, among them is tuning for FrankenTurbo's F21M and also our carbon fiber challenge lip which has been pushed continuously. So we aren't abandoning ship on anyone, we just need to focus on what we have now and then we can breathe a bit easier for the coming year.

So, you're all NOT screwed!

Thanks for the update! I was getting concerned... obviously. Good to hear though. I'll be interested to see what becomes of the F21M. I'll be in the Turbo upgrade market in a couple years.

I know you're not taking on anymore tunes until your ready, curious, what's your target psi for a Stage 1 Tune?

Much appreciated!

I just went for my first dyno run...

211 whp / 228 tq (stage III).

Still running high on fuel and can lean it up a bit. Lets see what the end product is...

Every tuner has different specs for the various stages. What are the requirements for Stage 3 with DNA?

Wow that's great! What is your complete mod list? That's 20hp more than I made, although I have had my tune tweaked since then and need to get back on the dyno...

- 2.5" turbo back
- k&n intake with alta hard pipe
- forge FMIC
- ALTA boost tube
- AEM water/meth
- stage III battle tuned

and this was only at 16 psi. I assume more boost can be done safely

I'm going to have to start doing meth. This seems to be key in achieving that little extra.

Very nice. Stock turbo right? You can run 18 psi safely. That's what I was at in the stock turbo. What a monster. But on the bigger turbo now. Huge difference.
