Drivetrain Manic Motorsport brings us N18 owners OBD II Tuning! Solution is finally here!
So one of my Audi buddies heard me talk about Manic and he told me this. The revo platform of hardware which does their software also leave residual code. So that if another tuner goes to tune it bricks the ECU; a common complaint hes seen on many VW and Audi forums...
Food for thought....

That's my take, but I don't know the entire story, that's Audi and VW peeps and what my buddy told me.
I'm not sure how the software would react to our ECU, but that's some scary sh*t regardless...

If any of you guys are interested in California to be a test car for Manic Motorsport and EuroCode Tuning email info@ecodetuning.com
Tell them you are interested in helping them test the tune for US calibration.
They are located in Southern California but hopefully they can accommodate all of us to help them out.
If you’re a customer wanting to recommend a local shop to be a tuner for Manic contact info@manicmini.com

I'm on the Audi forums and can assure you eurocode is legit. I'm pretty certain that if they start offering manic tunes, they'll iron the wrinkles out.
not really sure how they would adapt a revo VAG tuner to a BMW/Mini ECU - doesn't quite sound logical as I imagine them being vastly different. and if ECUs have been bricked, we prob would have heard about it already from people overseas running Manic tunes. also, eurocode is an APR dealer - I'd be surprised if they brought in revo/stasis products, as they're direct competitors to APR.
this is why you have a trial group, and this is why they offer discounts to early adopters - so they can get things right before a wide release. as an early adopter, I imagine they'd provide some extra attention to details. they know everyone's watching/reading/waiting - it's be in their best interest to get it right.
I already got in touch with those guys at eurocode - ready, willing, and waiting! it'd be doubly sweet if they become a one stop shop for both my cars.

My warranty is almost up and I'm looking to either trade it in for a JCW Clubman or keep the S and start adding more mods.
The didn't read the entire thread but is there a tuner here in Southern California?

IMO, get the JCW clubman. You won't regret it. If I could do it over I would.
Are you kidding, Southern California is the home of tuners. Take your pick.
eurocode in Torrance is supposedly going to be a manic vendor. there's a thread on the r56 general forum. they're looking for a group of test vehicles.

The problems other tuners have when they follow revo or apr software does not come from 'residual' code. Both those companies flash the entire ecu in order to do their switching. Most other flashing tools available only flash a portion of the ecu. When a tuner tries to use a partial flash on top of the revo or apr flash, then problems occur.
If the tuner were to flash the ecu back to stock with a full flash, then there wouldn't be any problems.
Manic would be the same. If you flashed the ecu back to stock then it'd be like it was before the tune.
Hope this helps.
Thats exactly what Manic told me a few months ago. They told me the difference between Manic and other tuners is that Manic Flashes the Entire ECU while other tuners flash part of the ECU. This is why Manic is able to easily perform Map switching in a matter of seconds with their SPS switch. Also have the ECU Friendly with their Manic parts such as the Cylinder Head they are producing for the R56. It is a complete ECU Rewrite, Not just a partial like other tuners.
The beauty of the Manic switchable software is you'd have normal 91/93 octane modes plus an E85 mode you could switch between in seconds.
Manic have already done tuning for race fuel plus water/meth, so the concept of having 'race only' settings is not new to them.
If E85 tuning is what the community wants, then we will get it done.
With the only gas station close to me that has e85 being at newark airport about 45 minutes away, I would have to go with a meth spray kit. Which I'm okay with as long as the tuning is there! Anything on launch control and no lift to shift features!? I need them!! Haha
I'm the leader of Mini copper S community called 'hoonigan' in Korea. I'm the one who owned obd n18 stage 3 from the manic and it works well. Our community won many trophies with it. It is very stable and I would strongly suggest you the manic ecu stage 3 'obd n18' if interested in ecu.

Are you the only one to have Manic tune? Or more cars in Korea have it?
Manic did your tune via the OBD port or they puled out your ECU and tuned it on the bench?
If I was in SF I would make that drive since I go there often.
Well I'm in Sacramento. I would love if they got a shop in the Bay Area. Maybe in the future. 6-8 hour drive is kinda pushing it. Especially knowing your gonna have to drive back. Lol
You'll be in boost 90% of the time anyway haha
Haha. True that Rob!
Yeah they said they will be here late March/early May. The days are finally coming! N18 owners have hope! I thought I was screwed knowing I had a "locked" ECU.
