I just installed one on my 1/2003 Cooper. It won't start with two or three shims, but it will with one. I tested clutch release with the drive wheels in the air and one actually seems good. Haven't driven it yet though.
Yes I helped my sitation by installing this devise but could only use one shim, any more and I could not get it into gear. Also this unit installs easy but if you have to remove to change shim it is a risky deal as the plastic post is very weak and is not designed to be removed.
It sucks people with older mini's can't use all 3 shims. I took mine out after having it in for about a month and I almost didn't want to drive my car. You wouldn't think such a little $10 product could make such a difference.
This is the Best Ten Dollars I've spent On my Mini Yet! My shifting is SOOO MUCH Better Now I can't stand by this product enough it took what felt like a over long drawn out clutch pedal and really turned it into perfect Thank BMS super awesome!
Ordered. I didn't realize that the clutch didn't need a full press. I tried pushing it 'almost' all the way in a few times, and... smoother shifts! What the heck MINI? Thanks for the tip!
I installed it with 2 spacers and i love it. Thinking about putting the third one back in to see how I like it. Absolutely recommend this if you're on the fence
I installed with 2 shims, did not even try 3. Love it, worth every penny of 10 bucks. I would be interested to feel it with 3 shims, but since everyone was running 2 I jumped on board.
If your on the fence, just buy it, you have nothing to lose.
Terry, I tried to PM you but can't. I have an N14 engine and am looking for something like what you offer for the N18 (is piggyback ECU the right term?) How do I get in touch? Thanks!

Thanks minimech. I don't mean to hijack the thread, but maybe someone can help me? Any suggestions for a relatively inexpensive way of upping the boost some? So far I've only done warranty friendly mods. I had a major service with Way a couple months ago to meet him and his crew. Drove through the night from New Orleans to Atlanta to see him. In a year or two I'll probably head back to do a tune and supporting mods, but until I feel comfortable ditching my warranty, an easily reversible piggy back ECU looks attractive to me. I should probably call and ask Way, but I've bugged him enough with maintenance questions and I'd appreciate other people's views from experience with their daily drivers. Please PM me if you have thoughts/suggestions as I don't want to hijack the thread. Thanks!
Wow what a difference. Installed with 3 shims. Then tried with 2 then went back to 3. 3 is for me. Have had my mini since NOV 2012 and have been unable to stop bouncing the headlights when switching from 1st to 2nd gear in the higher rpm range. Looked and felt like a noob driver. So I would try to compensate for the rpm drop and blip the gas when shifting but this was very inconsistent. Must be just the way I operate the clutch because not having to move it and extra 1-2 cm makes shifting very smooth.
