Same thing for me. I thought I did something wrong on the install bc when I pressed the clutch w/o driving, it felt the same. But when I took it for a spin, I was very impressed. And yeah now I have to push my foot all the way down to start the car with 3 shims but that's not a big deal. Great product!

Mine came in the mail today, had four shims. After browsing through this thread, I pulled off the fourth and installed. The original plug tore in half, took longer getting it out than putting in the new one. Got the new one in place, about halfway up the stop. Used the clutch pedal to press it in the rest of the way. Takes a firm push to start, but figure that will get easier after the first few starts. Feels fantastic. I love cheap mods that work.

Reinstalled mine from the MCS I recently parted with and put it on the JCW on 3 shims again. I also like how this will protect the rubber liner on the car as it already had an impression on it after only having it for 3 days. This is a great mod and cheap too!

I have some questions about this. I ordered and installed this with 3 shims, and starting the car is a hassle unless I mash the pedal down hard. Is this generally everyones experience or does it happen more with some than others?
Another thing is I'm used to shifting with the pedal a little higher than the stop is set so unless I'm speed shifting I don't really notice a huge difference. It seems everyone is overjoyed with this mod so I wanted to see if I'm doing something wrong.

just read about this mod.. interested, but are you guys determining at what point the clutch is fully engaged at? it would be bad if your clutches were still even a tiny bit engaged, as it'll cause unnecessary wear on the clutch.. in other words, how far up the floor is the clutch fully disengaged?

gotcha.. i wonder if others are doing this as well, as i think they should be. clutch needs to be FULLY disengaged, otherwise this will do more harm than good. i'm considering it, but the clutch doesn't really bother me. the evo has a really high engagement point as well, so i'm fairly used to it
