shifter play

I would like to know if a short shifter kit, such as the one by craven speed would alleviate excessive side play?
I was thinking about this option since i know the car has 150k mileage

Did you check the OEM base unit for play at the snap in point first?

What to you mean excessive side play?
Like when it's in third gear, you can move it side to side as if it were in neutral (except not as much as in neutral).

i had the problem when i installed a taller shift ****.

it was the selector brushing on right side of the housing (visible when you remove the boot).

A short shifter only effects the forward backward shortness.

As far as i know they do not sell a replacement brushing (mine is older and has a plastic brushing in a metal arm) I made a new one out of a brass brushing.

There is a nylon white collar that snaps in over the pivot ball, it can show play in that area, which is in all in one unit with the base that comes pre-greased. There are two bases.

Condition A and Condition B

You have a picture of the item from the condition B on our site. Just make sure you have the right one.

Thanks

Thanks a lot. I will check when I do my clutch an LSD install in about a month, as that's when I plan on changing the Shifter unit.

chicolean83, which LSD? I'm going to have the Quaife LSD installed on the 15th. As short shifters go, I don't think that it will solve your problem but I am seriously digging (loving for the youngsters) the Helix.

Yo! I have the OEM clutch and will have one installed along with the LSD. Way of Way Motor Works (who is doing the work) says that it is the most reliable so.... I am going to pick up a set of Koni Sports and spacers and hopefully.... this will be it for mods for awhile!

That's great! Way is a great guy. Ive bought a lot of stuff from him. Oem is always good for clutches, I just plan on doing a lot more power mods. Also had Act clutches in my past two vehicles, and they were great. Let me know how the LSD feels in the corners!

And off the line! After the tune, I have a hard time not spinning (a) tire!
