Drivetrain Your MCS exhaust reference thread. Videos. Sound clips. etc
I never really thought it was that loud. I actually can't get enough of it. Now w/the header and cat... that might be loud...
Don't discount the Magnaflow as being too loud unless you've heard one up close & personal...

oh well it just seemed to overpower all other noises going on either outside of your car or in, which to me would pretty much qualify as loud. My 4cyl tacoma pick up is running a header with no cat and a borla muffler and that thing is loud....like I said overpowering all other noises going on around you. Your thoughts??

Here's a few clips of the RMW header and exhaust (V1.0)
Sorry for the bad quality. I didn't have any way to mount the camera and driving while holding a camera is somewhat difficult. I'm getting a camera mount in a few days, so I'll shoot some more videos. Also, my car is VERY bumpy (Coilovers set pretty stiff on low profile extreme performance Summer tires), so all the rattles and bumps sort of add to the audio track.
I'll try to get a few drive by shots at some point. FWIW, point and shoot digital camera's don't do this exhaust justice.
2nd Gear Pull, 4500-7200 RPM's. THIS is why you don't need an intercooler for street driving! If youtube's quality wasn't so bad you could see that the IAT's peak at 96 for about 5 seconds, then drop to 91, then 85, all within about 15 seconds of redlining (While still holding the car at about 6000 RPM's).
Driveway Revving, the last rev was up to about 6000 RPM's
Dyno Pull
4th Gear 3000-5500 RPM pull, 35-60 MPH
Cruising in 5th, 30-40 MPH, then slow down to about 10.

I think it's just the video. It was done with a point/shoot digital and the rear seats backs were out, so it may not be representitive of te actual sound I hear.
Ok yeah I can understand where you are coming from...the video I took of my pickup was with a point/shoot camera as well and I said the same thing to people who commented on YouTube about my exhaust
Here's a Janspeed Cat-Back, when i did the video the mods were, 17% Alta V2, 440 injectors, K&N Panel filter and colder spark plugs

i'd probably have to say at least 400 more like 550 then you know you're getting a complete stainless steel exhaust that wont rust and deteriorate on you in a few years. obviously hp isn't really an issue as almost all cat backs won't gain only but a few hp unless you get one designed to work as a system like say the RMW exhaust which will give you bigger gains but (correct me if I'm wrong) costs much more than your average cat back.
Here is a 1/8th of a mile run I did in my car last Friday. This lets you hear the full throttle "metallic tornado" from an Ireland Engineering catback.

that IS a very interesting sound to say the least. I would bet there were a few people there at the strip wondering how come they wasn't a tornado siren warning going off a few minutes prior to your run!!
I second the motion on the IE. Like all cat-back feedback, after being broken in, it really sounds good. I wish I had done this sooner. Our fellow member who bought my Minspeed 1-ball re-route pipe commented "it's loud" but to me it is still more subtle than Magnaflow or Invidia...it really come alive on full throttle.
Well, at highway speeds it's pretty nice. No real drone, it's just those instances where you have to punch it, where the rumble goes away and you hear the screaming banshee. You're not at full throttle for very long for it to get annoying.
LOL, yeah, you hear it inside the car. I never knew it was that prominent from the outside until I watched the clip. From what I hear though, all single canister exhausts make that sound. I've never heard the Altas at full throttle though, so I'm not sure. Either way, I love it.
