Nop! If you remove the cat, you will fail the emission test! The O2 bung extension is used to fool the ecu and think the cat is there! No lights if done correctly, but won't pass!

 

That's actually all I need it to do, I'm registered in MI so no emissions for me. But, I've heard the extended bunga are hit or miss, at least on A4's it was. I might have to just get a highflow cat welded to the OBX manifold.

 

Should i get the Alta or Megan Exhaust?

The Megan looks better quality than the Alta - atleast you'd have 2 mufflers...
However, for the price, I'd seriously consider the Invidia for a few bucks more. That or a used JCW. That would be my choice. The JCW sounds awesome!

Alta is ok, a little loud for my taste, the Megan sounds louder yet, could be just me, Invidia - have 1 on my car, 6 years no complaints...

 

Has anyone seen these for the 53's? Called up the guys at remus usa up in Nor. Cal. and had em shoot me a pic of these remus "sport label" systems they've got on a clearance sale. Apparently there are two types, these and the "free flow race" which are louder. The guy on the phone said he didn't want me to post prices, but that they're way over-stocked on both of these, and they're blowing them out at near half of list price, 40% off for NAM members. I calc'd it out and this is a great price for a remus. Google em. I did.

 

Still not cheap at $750, but it's Remus, so if somebody was in the market for an exhaust around that price it's good deal.

 

Anyone confirm a price on these? Anyone own either model? I own a Volt, which is a little ugly, but sounds good (although a little "look at me"-ish). Looking to possibly get a track only exhaust to swap out for race days.

He loves his Invidia. My Volt sounds great on the road (no drone), has a bit of attitude around town, avoids sounding like a fart can, and, from bystanders at the track "sounds like a MINI should at the track." Too bad they never made too many of them.

 

Yea, you gotta watch out for those stupid EPA patrol cars. I think they are green, aren't they?

That thing sounds mean! my exhaust cracked then broke at the pre cat. drove the car like that for a week before getting it fixed. talk about loud

Stratmosphere, Milltec, JCW are the ones I know.

 

If you have a R53 the scorpion exhaust has absolutely no drone and is a couple hundred less than milltek and JCW

 

Invidia as well

That's a local car here in CT. It is extremely loud but sounds sooo good!
