Drivetrain Your MCS exhaust reference thread. Videos. Sound clips. etc
But whats the pipe diamiter? i hope its 2 1/4 inches
I'm not quite sure but im positive if you ask a vendor or someone who has one they will be able to tell you
I installed the Magnaflow on my 06' MCS a few weeks ago. I was a bit hesitant due to the fact that many people had said it was too loud. I don't find it to be too loud. And surprisingly neither does my Wife. That is the true test! Don't get me wrong, when you get on it, you hear it. But when I drive normally, I don't find it to be too obtrusive. If anyone my wants to hear some sound clips, I can definitly put a few together. I wanted to say Thanks to Scott & Jeff @ Texas Speed Works for helping me with my decision, and a great price on a awesome exhaust.
The thing with exhausts is everyone has different tastes. You can say that you don't think the Magnaflow is too loud, but you have to remember two things which i'm sure you are already aware of. 1) Your opinion of loud might not be the same as the next person. 2)It's still brand new and as we all know, mufflers take some time to "break" in. I put an invidia on my car last May and its only gotten loud in the past few months. I just started noticing how much louder it has gotten since around december.

Anyone thought to take the first thread, and subsequent material added in the past 4 years, and putting it on Wikipedia so that the community can keep it updated?
Exhausts are a big deal - they are expensive, and they make a big difference in both performance (for those who want to take it on the track), and perception (for all of us).
I read all 17 pages, and have more opinions than before, but could have made the trip much faster.
I don't know much about exhausts (still), but would be willing to help edit if someone wants to try and start the entry.
Maybe we just need to start MiniPedia....

Wikipedia is awesome!! I just watched Saw IV finally and was left totally confused at the end, but a quick read on wikipedia shed a little more light on what exactly happened at the end (where I got lost). Gotta love wikipedia man!!

I'm going to see if I can contact the admin, and see if he will give someone else (not me, I'm no expert - I still have a stock exhaust) access to the beginning post to modify it.
Personally, I just today Feb 19, 2008, purchased a Volt from Detroit Tuned for $375 + shipping. They are BEAUTIFUL in the pictures. We shall see if it is as good as people are reporting. I love the fact that it would be selling at $700 like the rest of the well known exhausts if the company that is (was) making them decided to keep making them (DT is selling them at closeout prices as the company who was making them decided to not pursue custom exhausts, but continue to be a large player in the OEM exhaust market).

Ok, I talked to Mark, founder of the site, and he said that he would hook up anyone who was willing to maintain the first thread.
If you have a little bit of knowledge about exhausts (you don't have to be an expert), and can take 20 minutes a week to put information posted by other people into the first post (i.e. copy and paste), then please take a step forward and say "aye!".
I'll hook you up.
(PS - I don't even have a custom exhaust yet, so I really don't qualify to edit the thread.)

Here's my small contribution to this thread. OBX header and one-ball. This is a cold start in the garage. I'm working on others, like in-cabin and drive by sound, but my recorder's audio doesn't capture that much.

Hello all you custom muffler tinkerers and owners. I am taking over the first posting since ABTSportsline is no longer with the forum.
If you have any updates to the first posting, please post. I will begin to edit and improve this information from the 2004 data it has in it now over the next couple of months.

Survey for MCS Exhaust Types
I'm the guy that has taken over the Exhaust Guide thread started back in 2004, which is now a sticky on the 1st Gen | Modifications | Drivetrain (Cooper S) thread (This thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=23789)
I want to determine how to improve the Exhaust Guide. To do that, it just makes sense to me to find out the most popular exhausts out there for the MCS. (By popular, I mean the ones that are installed by the most people).
If certain manufacturers exhausts are being used way more than others, we should spend more time on those, and less on the others.
So, please take this one question survey, at SurveyMonkey.com:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?s...ZMWa1x5w_3d_3d
It asks you to pick which custom exhaust you have on your MCS - that's it, once click.
I will keep bumping this, and will put it in the general discussion listing to try and get as much info as possible. Please excuse the cross postings.

I've added 3 new exhausts to the guide. See the first posting for more info on the following:

** April 20, 2008 - MINI-Madness V2 Catback (see #13 below)
** March 13, 2008 - Ireland Engineering Catback (see #12 below)

Updated. Thanks for the information.

So now a question pops up. With my mods, I'm planning to get RMW header but I feel lost deciding which exhaust system shall I get? I'm not after sound at all, I'm after less weight and more power. Does everyone recommend SuperSprint?
