ignition coils??

Screamin deamon or MSD?? I have the stock one right now and I want to upgrade. I have several other MODS from the previous owner including cold air intake and 17% SC pulley as well as a differant intercooler diverter. Which should I get? I will get new plugs and wires with it so advice on those would help also.

I have the Screamin Demon along with MSD 8.5 wires and NGK Iridium Plugs. Did not notice much of a difference besides my idle improving and a hint more response in lower rpms. The gains of an upgraded coil are argued a lot in numerous articles and posts and most people I talk to notice very little gains if any gain at all.

I just swapped out my MSD coil for my stock coil today due to a cylinder 3 misfire. I suggest saving the money and getting the factory JCW spark plugs.

Yes, you will need a colder range spark plug for your reduced s/c pulley. I have also had a good experience with Brisk silver racing plugs, but require replacement more often than the platinum JCW plugs.

The only reason I would see for changing the coil would be due to misfire from faulty coil or from rusted/corroded terminals on the coil and ignition leads.

Speaking of which....for all the high h.p. freaks out there that swear by the stock coil, what is everyone's solution to the corrosion of the #3 terminal? I get a slight misfire due to my rusty terminal so I've been wanting to scrap it entirely for MSD or Screamin Deamon just so that I wouldn't have to deal with rust that an OEM coil would develop..

+3 for stock is best and cheapest. but if your tryin to to get some bling id say go with msd. theres no power added even with the plugs and wires. i put colder plugs in for a day(with pulley) and felt a decrease in power. changed them out for brand new stock plugs and everything was back to normal

For those that have used the msd coilpack do you know what size 10 mm bolts are needed in order for it to fit to the valve cover?

Watch those bolts!!!! If you tighten too much you will crack the valve cover!!
Stock coil is the best, IMHO.

If it was made to be on a MINI, wouldnt the bolts be the same?

Just sayin...

Sell that junk, return it, or blow the thing up, but for the love of Pete, dont use it on your car. There is absolutely no improvement over stock, unless you think random misfires are an improvement. If you just want the color Krylon is a Home Depot away!

Glad I didn't buy it yet. I really wanted a lime green anyways.

Great! If you want to change it out, get an OEM coil (many vendors now cary them) use your color of choice rattle can after taping the terminals and posts, then reinstall. Be sure to use a good amount of dielectric grease on the posts, and you are good and problem free up to 500 HP.

Then you can take the $$$ you saved yourself, and have an adult beverage of your choice for the troubles you saved yourself.

I was going to get it for $80 bucks. Just kidding about the color. I gotta focus on front suspension bushings anyway. *headache*
