Nope nothing you can do about it but get another tensioner shock from BMW or aftermarket. I searched for a better replacement but nothing exists. Its just a design flaw that Sprintex must think isnt important enough to address.

The part you need is the tensioner for an E36 3 series BMW.

Yet.

There is a better replacement tensioner in the works, hopefully be out sooner rather than later. Don't know if it will work with the Sprintex or not, although it very well might. It would be kind of funny if it did, for those who appreciate irony.

Not enough room with Sprintex's chunky tensioner arm for that solution...

This is the tensioner piston you need:

Tensioner Piston:
Gates #38217
BMW 750i '86-'94 E-32
BMW 850i '90-'95 E-35

There was a service bulletin about this, unfortunately it got lost in the shuffle somewhere.

Wooo!!!! It's tuned, and holy shyt! This SC is great. I am happy and pissed at the same time. Happy about the power, but pissed that I have to at least put an R56 brake system or better on my R53. There's no question that I need more stopping power.
I/we think the belt on the 64mm pulley may have a tiny bit of slippage, but the Sprintex is working as advertised.
I hope I don't develop a tensioner issue this early in the game, but I'll get the BMW tensioner just in case. (I'd rather have and not need...)

BlwnAway - You were right. I do have a lot to learn about the car after changing so much at one time. I learned that I'd better improve braking and handling. Wow!

Want better stopping power? Buy new tires first. Your brakes are only as good as your tires.

The right set of pads will also help IMO.

I'm running a new set of Mich Pilot Super Sport Tires. Any better would be autocross tires I think.

I have cool carbon pads at this time. I'd like to try the Kevlar pads.
I hate anything red on my car other than wiring. So the EBC Red pads are out. (May not have a choice huh?)

Any recommendations for a guy who like the curves? Something that bites and doesn't fade.
Vegas traffic is fast and dangerous, I have to stop now! Far to many accidents on I-15.

Anyone

Here's the belt sizes for you:
69mm
Bando 6PK1415
Gates 060557
64mm
Bando 6Pk1410
Gates 060555
60mm
Bando 6PK1400
Gates 060550

I was unable to get the 060550 Gates and had to go with the 060551 & it did slip, so I went to the Bando. But if you're using the correct size Gates and you still think it's slipping try the Bando, the belt composition is slightly different & I believe it grips better.
If you can't get them locally, I just get mine from Amazon, you can usaully get them for about $14.00, so if it does fix your slip NBD to just order another one to have around.

Glad you're enjoying it, even with the drop in compression I had (age) mine was still an F'n Animal, you can have somewhat of an idea what mine was like w/ the 60mm & BVH, and also why I'm getting at my rebuild ASAP, I really miss it.

What kind of boost levels are we supposed to get on the stock pulley ?? I peaked at 13.7 yesterday after a full 10k mile break in.

Check for leaks & gauge accuracy, you should be seeing anywhere from the low to high 15's, with normal (sea level) atmospheric conditions. (the higher you go / the thinner the air / the lower the boost)

I was reading from the Torque app. Did some additional research... 15+ is over 6k rpm. I stopped at 5500k

If I would have kept going, I would be more than 10over in a "Safety Corridor" ... There aren't many places we can wrap out our MINIs on the street without getting too much attention.

Yup, esp. w/ extra RPM, @ 7500 top of 2nd is almost Hwy speed limit around here.

BlwnAway - Thanx for the info since I started this project. Yes I can totally imagine what you felt like. I couldn't believe the response and power of the MINI. My affinity for this car is very much renewed.

Not on the MINI... And its been so long ago I cant even remember what compound I had on my EVO. They where a little noisy until they got warm/hot, but stopping was always there, even with smoke blowing out of all 4 wheels and glowing front rotors. Dont get me wrong they still faded, but they still stopped.
I can check one of the other boards, and see what they are using if you want.

If it's not a bother yes, but don't trouble yourself.
Thanks for the reply.
