That's crazy! Whatever happened to Quality Control?
I've been trying to find a Racing equivalent to the Gates 060555 to no avail.
I guess I have to find and match the dimensions.

Ok so I did the research and found that the Gates K060555 V-belt for the 64mm pulley is .75in/19mm longer than the K060547RB. (Gates Racing Belt for the stock M45 pulley) They are the same width and number of ribs. I had plenty of travel left on my tensioner when I installed the K060555, which might explain the slippage. Anyone think the .75 is too short to try?

Mike, Blwn, anyone?

.75 inches is a lot. I don't know for sure, but I would guess that it will not work.

I don't think there's enough play in that piston, even if you got it on, you'd prob. bottom it out.
But that's just a guess.

Blwn, Bean,
Common sense tells me it isn't likely, but I was hoping someone has had some experience and got lucky.

What made me think I could do it was the fact that the supplied belt was just inside its limitations. I had plenty of travel left.
Maybe the belt was a bit long to begin with, like DG R53 said above, (3/8th difference w/3 supposedly identical belts.)

Sent an email to Gates requesting a racing belt equivalent in dimension to the K060555 v-belt, which is required for the Sprintex 64mm pulley. Waiting for a response.

I downloaded the instructions and it looks pretty straight forward i pulled the current supercharger off last year and changed the oil in it. is there anything tricky about putting the new one on.

Nope, not really, off the top of my head, besides doing it in the steps they give you, the only thing else I can think of is, my install went just fine w/o pulling the CAI or ECU (do of course disconnect the battery) and I had to replace one of the bracket-to-block mounting bolts that was too long and the OEM W/P to Thermostat hose was just slightly too short.

That's about it, really pretty easy, the directions are actually pretty good.

I know this may sound dumb, but, better safe than sorry. Don't forget to put oil in your Sprintex.

Exciting!
I would be so anxious to get going, I would put some rubber fuel line over the vacuum lines or do whatever it took to get the car running, then take it apart again when the new lines arrive. :-)

Explain "proper pulley." I have a 64mm pulley and the recommended belt.
If there's something I'm missing please share it.

I think hi is talking about 69mm pulley It makes weaker load to belt system and tensioner makes his work good.
I have the same problem with slippage on 60mm pulley, but I temporarily resolve it by 1395 Gates belt

I too had a problem w/ the 60mm, but mine was actually getting the right size belt locally, calls for a Gates 060550, and all I could find was the 060551, that's why I had to go to the Bando 6pk1400. (6pk1410 for the 64mm / 6pk1415 for the 69mm)

Pulley basics for the Sprintex are this:
69mm - 15-16 psi boost levels (supplied w/ the kit)
64mm - 17-18 psi
60mm - 19-20 psi
(Of course the boost levels will vary w/ differences in intake setups & other factors)

Using the 64 or 60mm pulleys will void your S/C warranty, so be aware of the risks.

As far as "best" that's a matter of personal opinion & what you're wanting & willing to do as far as added performance desires, the supplied pulley (69mm) will give you comparable boost levels to an M45 w/ a 16% pulley, but with the added efficiency benefits when it comes to power, so if you'd be happy with that, there you go.

IMO, the 64mm is a good "happy medium" for added performance w/ minimal extra effort, and the 60mm is more for those who like things on the wilder side.

That being said, there are things to consider to go along with the swaps, for example tuning, for each pulley size, tuning adjustments are a must, and IMO the 60mm should be accompanied by at least an I/C upgrade and W/M would be a real +, esp. if your running the car hard in the summer months. (Plus when you feel the difference w/ that pulley on a 70° day compared to a 90° day, you'll want that "all" the time)
I personally was seeing a solid 20psi w/ my setup & the 60mm pulley, and loved it, but again you need to be responsible about it, esp. if your on a stock bottom end, you'll need to be diligent on your basic maintenance and engine health just to avoid any possible issues, face it your talking about adding upwards of 7-8 psi over OEM boost levels into a 1.6l motor things "can" happen. (the only reason I even added this is because, as a community we're pretty lucky, a lot of our performance upgrades are pretty Bullitt Proof and easily attainable, and we tend to forget what can happen when you start pushing limits..... lol, esp. as your planning things out in your head....)

thanks for the info. i love the way it sounds and drives currently but am always thinking about upgrading i just like to read alot before it do anything. Currently i have the sprintex with stock pulley, water methanol kit set on a hob switch to fire at 11 psi, i got a cone style K&N Filter made a boot and hooked it direct to my throttle body seems to work, cold range spark plugs, i lowered it about an inch and put a 19mm swaybar on it. I have a list of stuff i wanna do next like cam, injectors, and a mynes tune are gonna be my next step.
