What is this new sensor in my 2011 MCS that broke off?
Hey guys. I was installing my K&N cai apollo intake and i noticed this sensor plug that i thought you were supposed to unplug but it didn't turn out to be a plug. It appears to be glued on or tacked on from the factory on the hose. Long story short, K&N has horrible instructions and i may have ruined a very expensive part of my intake manifold or something. Any insights as to what this sensor does and what will happen if i tried to glue this piece back on with high temperature range super glue/epoxy/adhesive/etc.? As of right now i have not reconnected the battery yet in fear of having a CEL come on without this sensor properly installed back. Also do you guys think it'd be covered under warranty if i revert everything back to stock and have them look at it?
EDIT: i was able to track down the entire hose on realOEM.com but it doesn't have a price listed. it's basically the first part 10 on top of the bottom part 10 if that makes sense (smoother hose on top versus rippled one on bottom). http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...12&hg=13&fg=20
close up of the 'plug' that was ripped off by accident

a view of the hole on the side of the hose that it was pried off from along with another view of the sensor

Just tried some Loctite plastic epoxy and after letting cure over night (says fully cured in 24 hrs) and tried it tonight and it basically turns on but idles roughly for about 5-10 seconds and shuts down slowly. Possibly a leak in the intake install somewhere or it's the little piece that ripped off? =/

edit: because the closest legit dealership is about 20-35 miles away and i don't like the SF mini dealership because everyone knows they have horrible customer service.

Agreed. Fess up to the mistake and bite the $ bullet
I didn't think about getting there and back though. I did sort of the same thing on my lancer evo 4 about 8 years ago and had to get a part from the wrecker. You should try your luck if there are any near by.
Good luck.
Well in any case i ordered the part off ecs tuning for about $90 shipped, much cheaper than the pre 2011 piece which is going for $140(has more ripples on it compared with the 2011 one). Let's hope my baby gets up and running again after the new part comes.
